Nationwide Flex Account Opening

  • Just phoned Nationwide apparently the memorable data can be any one of the three pieces of memorable data (either of the two names or date) you supplied when initially setting the account up. Nice of them to specify which one.

As for the pass code she was trying to make out that my PIN number is my pass code, I said it cant be because its asking for the fifth digit of my code and my PIN number is only 4 digits long. Basically fobbed me off, telling me the pass code will be sent within 5 working days. Mentioned something about a card reader?

You will get a 6 digit pass number, which you will need to log in.

You also get a card reader which allows you to log in using the debit card and its PIN. Or you can choose not to use the card reader and log in using the pass number and any 1 item of your personal information.

The card reader is needed also for setting up payments from your accounts.

The card reader is a fairly standard one and you may have a suitable one for another account. If you can log in using your card, you can view your pass number without waiting for it to arrive in the post (I think).

assume its same as it was six months ago.... u get a card reader. Once set up you insert your debit card and generate a code which you enter on screen (helpfully it generates the code with spaces between blocks of 4 characters ... but u enter the code without spaces....!!!!!)

re: Post above yes - i believe any banks 'debit card reader' will work.....e.g.NatWest

Mine tracked on TCB within an hour of applying (FlexPlus) - not confirmed though after switch completed 2 weeks ago.

I don't understand why it hasn't tracked, when all the other purchases I've done on TCB and QC have tracked after a few hours. I always delete cookies before logging in to the cashback site.

Could it be because I still have access to Nationwide Internet Banking from previous accounts and that slows down the application process?

I don't think so. I have a CC with Nationwide and just applied through Quidco for the Flex Account using the same device as I used earlier today to check my CC account and it still tracked within 2 hours.

I've reset my browser now but I'll have to ring Nationwide to cancel the application before I can apply again.

In the application did you enter the same security details that you currently use for Internet Banking? How do you avoid being given another customer number for Internet Banking access, as when you follow the cashback link it only lets you apply as a new customer.

I would put in a claim to TopCashback now and with that process you can see if they have a record of the transaction. I also have an ongoing Nationwide account and it didn't affect the TopCashBack tracking at all.

Yes I did but it was just to save me the hassle of remembering new security details just incase I got given a different customer ID. Why do you want to apply again? Surely you can manually validate it through TCB or QC

has any one else opened a second account with nationwide not long after the first, mines been up and running for a couple weeks now, and have decided to open a second one for their flex plus, got an instant acceptance yesterday and an automated email asking me to take id into branch - would i still need to do this given only just opened one before so had ID and signature after that (reluctant to go to branch for the sake of it like last time as found out after didn't need to).

will the account show up online automatically (if so how long would that take) or would i get another letter to sign like before?

both accounts i applied for are flex accounts (one eventually will be upgraded to the flex direct once the 12 months since last one held will be cleared and one will be upgraded eventually to the flex plus account)
