They are slow, slow, slow at setting the account up and sending all the paperwork through.
Applied last Tuesday 3rd online, was accepted instantly, received the e-mail & took ID into branch half hour later.
Heard nothing then till Tuesday 10th this week, letter through door dated last Thursday 5th asking me to sign, date & return in the 2nd class business return envelope supplied.
Yesterday (Wednesday 11th) another letter received dated Friday 6th an exact copy of the one I received from them the day before asking me to sign, date & return...
Been into branch today & they said it can take another 7 - 10 working days...
Come on Nationwide, I'm growing a beard here... all I want is a place to stash 2 & a half G's for a year0 -
looks like the branch may have been right and no id was needed after all as have received a second letter today giving customer number and account details but this time only asking for me to sign and return the form rather than taking ID, so looks like my trip to branch on Saturday was not needed after all. Have posted the second letter back this morning any way to be on the safe side.
well i got an email on tuesday saying the account is now open (after taking the id in on saturday and sending the duplicate letter back on monday), so waiting for everything else in the post now.MFW#105 - 2015 Overpaid £8095 / 2016 Overpaid £6983.24 / 2017 Overpaid £3583.12 / 2018 Overpaid £2583.12 / 2019 Overpaid £2583.12 / 2020 Overpaid £2583.12/ 2021 overpaid £1506.82 /2022 Overpaid £2975.28 / 2023 Overpaid £2677.30 / 2024 Overpaid £2173.61 Total OP since mortgage started in 2015 = £37,286.86 2025 MFW target £1700, payments to date at April 2025 - £1712.07..0 -
I also had the email saying the account is open with my customer number for online banking.
I tried to log in using it, but it says its not recognised.
I queried this on my latest branch visit... they said even though I've had the email it still takes 7-10 to set up.0 -
Cheers for the update guys. I guess it this day and age, we're used to having accounts opened pretty much as soon as possible. Have to admit, I was surprised that quite a few people are having this slow experience with Nationwide.
I've never had an account with a building society before. Could this possibly be the reason they're slow?0 -

How long does cashback tracking take when opening an account via Topcashback or Quidco? I opened one 2 weeks ago but it has still not tracked, does it not track until the account has been opened?
Thanks0 -

Mine tracked on TCB within an hour of applying (FlexPlus) - not confirmed though after switch completed 2 weeks ago.0 -

mystery solved as to why the customer number was not working, got debit card today so tried again. stated not recognised so on the off chance i tried the old customer i had when i had a flex direct account with them previously. That customer number works instead and can now use the new debit card and pin and shows the new account on there.MFW#105 - 2015 Overpaid £8095 / 2016 Overpaid £6983.24 / 2017 Overpaid £3583.12 / 2018 Overpaid £2583.12 / 2019 Overpaid £2583.12 / 2020 Overpaid £2583.12/ 2021 overpaid £1506.82 /2022 Overpaid £2975.28 / 2023 Overpaid £2677.30 / 2024 Overpaid £2173.61 Total OP since mortgage started in 2015 = £37,286.86 2025 MFW target £1700, payments to date at April 2025 - £1712.07..0 -
I've had my PIN number today, one step at a time...
I just tried on the off chance to see if my customer number works to log into internet banking and it does, BUT when it takes me through to the next screen its asking me for my memorable data. I have 3 pieces of memorable data that I entered when initially setting up the account - 2 names and a date, which one should I enter???
Then it asks for a pass number, which pass number??? Do they mean my memorable date?
Starting to get irritated with nationwide now, 11 days in...
Anyone had experience of opening Club Lloyds and how long they take?0
