Nationwide Flex Account Opening

Hi.
I applied for this account on 16th Feb - only to get the 'we'll be in touch within five working days' message. I thought since they credit check you online, that the decision was instant?
Nothing adverse on my credit file, all green, never missed a payment or paid late.
Anyway, six working days later and I still haven't heard a peep. Been struggling to call them as we're swamped at the minute at work so I'm doing all sorts of crazy hours. And my lunch breaks are non existent at the moment so I can really give them a ring during those.
Just wondering what other peoples' experience was when opening a Nationwide Flex account.

You'll find telephone banking is open 24/7.
If you give them your details they will be able to locate your application for you and possibly give you an update.Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0 -
We opened a Fkex Plus online. It was accepted immediately, but in effect it took another three days to count as open and it was days afterwards that we had card, pin etc.Member #14 of SKI-ers club
Words, words, they're all we have to go by!.

Opened a Flex Direct online on Saturday night and was accepted immediately. Email sent to me asking to go to branch to show ID. Did that on Monday. Email yesterday confirming acceptance and telling me that Bankcard etc will arrive in 7-10 Days.0

I've just checked their website. It says lines are open from 8AM to 8PM. I've just missed it for today as I've only just got in. Regardless, I did try ringing and couldn't get through. I'll give it a try a little earlier tomorrow. Thanks!

It was instant approval with both Halifax and Barclaycard in the past, so I was surprised with this. Anyhoo, like the poster above mentioned, I'll just give them a call tomorrow after work. Hopefully, I can get in there before the lines close. Thanks for the feedback!

I thought it would be slower during the weekend which is why I waited until Monday to apply. That worked out pretty fast for you which is good news! Always had instant approval in the past so it's something I just got used to but nevermind, I'll try and give them a call tomorrow to see what's happening. Thank you!

No problem. Bank card arrived today and switch is underway. Did it through Topcashback for 84 cash back and I will save quite a bit on account and overdraft fees over next 12 months.0

When I made application normal telephone banking told me the status of my application.
You might also want to check your employer is not breaking the law in reference to breaks etc at work.

If you apply between certain times I think it was between 11pm - 6am week days you wouldn't get an instant decision.Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0 -
I already had a FlexDirect account with them which was opened immediately online then later applied for a bog standard Flex Account. This one did take far longer to open and I received confirmation by post. I was surprised seeing that the FlexDirect was immediate. I am sure if you are patient you will hear from them soon.
Good luck.0
