Yes this is why I was asking the amount. Should probably have just posted that link in my previous post!

I've had a different experience. I opened a FlexAccount around a week ago and got instant approval. Received an email to say that I had to go into branch to show ID and I planned to do this after 2 days but then received an email on the day that I intended to go that my account was fully open. Got the debit card and PIN a few days later. A bit weird as I don't hold any other accounts with them.

I hope it works that way for me! I applied Sunday and got instant confirmation of acceptance on screen and that a letter would be sent for me to sign and return in a couple days. However I also have an email asking for id which due to work Etc can't take in till Monday coming so fingers crossed will be same with me and don't need to go in after all!

I applied online last Friday and got approved and was told they would send out forms that I need to take into branch with id proof!! Arrived home from work this afternoon to find 4 letters one welcome and three PIN number letters including telephone and Internet banking pins and my debit card pin! Not sure if I need to go into my local branch or not now. There's no mention of ID proof being needed anywhere??

well i went to branch yesterday (saturday) with the letter and ID the branch staff added a note to say that i had taken it in and will forward the letter in their internal post tomorrow (monday) however he advised that didn't look like they actually needed ID from me and said it is sent automatically in a lot of occasions.

Fingers crossed the account will be open soon!

I applied for a sole Flex direct account last week and received instant approval and ask me to select my overdraft limit. Also that evening they sent me an email advising I was accepted but wanted me to go into a branch with ID.

I phoned them and said we had been with them for 20 years and already had a joint account and refused to go down the ID route. They apologised and said no ID required. To date I have received a form to sign regarding my overdraft.

Hopefully the account will be opened in a few days.

I applied for a new FlexAccount for my mother online the other day. She was accepted immediately online with overdraft facilities and also a credit card.

Initially it asked her to go to a branch with her ID but then she had an email saying that it was all approved giving her account login number.

Apparently they found an old dormant account of hers that was set up for online access and linked the new one to that. Sometimes the systems actually work for you! :)

I have sorted out her logon for her (luckily my mother keeps everything banks send her from the year dot!) and she has online access and her cheque book and PIN have arrived. Just waiting for the debit and credit cards.

It might be something to do with the FlexDirect being an 'online' account in that you cannot operate it by branch (you get told off if you try and go in branch and pay in cash as I did!). Perhaps that is why they are processed quicker.

    Good luck. :)

Ah, that's a good point! I even read that however, it didn't occur to me at the time. :o
