That's the theory anyway. I've been paying £8/month for Specsavers monthly disposable lenses (delivered by Lensmail) for years, and about 5 months ago cancelled my solutions (as they were stockpiling).
I initially contacted Lensmail by phone to cancel the solutions, and they told me the cost would therefore reduce to £5/month, but they made me aware that I wouldn't receive the neutralising barrels (for the hydrogen peroxide solution).
The next time I was near my local store I popped in to purchase a neutralising barrel (about 95p each I think) and when I relayed the fact that I'd cancelled my solutions to the assistant, she said they'd better check the system as Lensmail weren't that efficient!?
Anyway, whilst I have not received any solutions or barrels for the past 5 months, I am still paying £8/month, despite the 2 contacts mentioned above, another vist to the store, as well as 2 further phonecalls to try and get them to alter the direct debit and refund the difference!!0 -
After paying through the nose for a monthly direct debit with specsavers I also was beginning to notice the amount of contact lens solution piling up, perhaps I don't clean them good enough??? but I have never had any trouble with my lenses. I recently decided to cut back every where in my life where I can save money and after researching the internet it is so much cheaper to pay for contact lens solution either online or pick one up at Boots and buy your lenses online. After rebates, coupons and free shipping I really notice the difference in my pocket. I kinda feel horrible as the girls in my local Specsavers are great but I gotta cut back. I still go and have my prescription done there so I haven't totally ignored them which is good for my conscience. Anyway if anyone cares the best website I found for contact lens price comparison which has both UK and US prices so you can see who really is the cheapest is http://www.thecontactlensdirectory.com hope this helps others save like me cause we could all use a little help right now!0

Although they are priced at a premium to other lenses, I shall continue to use them as I require the convenience of a daily disposable and a lenses that you can wear all day. I am determined to find the cheapest prices, 30 lenses (not pairs) are currently £17.99 at www.contactforlenses.com, has anyone found them cheaper elsewhere? Thanks
Hi, sorry I havent seen these cheaper elsewhere. What is the difference between all the acuvue lenses, are trueye better than moist and are moist better than just acuvue? I have been wearing specsavers own make for a while now but they make my eyes sore after about 4 hours and I have to take them out. My eyesight is so clear with them in though and would love to find some I can keep in for longer, although maybe it is just my eyes and not the lenses to blame, any help would be appreciated.0 -

Acuvue trueye is the best daily disposable on the market at the minute, they are made of silicon hydrogel, which transmit much more oxygen to the eyes than any other daily disposable lens, and will not dry out as much.
The acuvue moist is similar to the acuvue, but has a treatment on it to retain a bit more moisture. there are many other dily disposable lenses on the market which are similar to these (and cheaper) but so far there are none made of the same material as the trueye.Wiggly:heartpulsFB0 -
Tesco IS cheaper than VisionDirect.co.uk if you don't take quantity discounts into account. A 12 months supply is 6 pounds cheaper at VisionDirect.co.uk.No Unapproved or Personal links in signatures please - FT30

Has anybody ever paused Specsavers' Lensmail scheme? I remember the sales guy saying you could stop receiving lenses and solutions for a while and then restart. I can't find anything like this in the T&C
Has anybody ever done this? How long can you do it for?0 -

There is a phone number for the call centre on the letter you get in your lensmail pack or you can just call your store directly.Wiggly:heartpulsFB0 -
Thanks for the quick reply! Do you have to say in advance how long you want to suspend it for? Or can you just suspend it and then phone up again in a few months and ask for it to restart?
How is aftercare affected during the period it's suspended?0 -

You normally still get your aftercare if on a scheme holiday, but some stores may refuse if you are on a long break (after all, they will not be receiving any payment from you during your suspension), best to ask the branch you get your lenses from.Wiggly:heartpulsFB0 -
