FACT: by re-using daily disposibles and/or sleeping in them you are at a significantly higher risk of complications than the person who uses them properly. This has been proven many times over. Just because you have not had problems so far does not mean you wont. Some complications are sight threatening - this is serious advise.
Feel free to take the risk however. Havng seen what I've seen, I would never do.
What facts? Show me the facts. Show me where I can go to see what possible damage I am doing. But please don't suggest useless links that daysoftlenses has suggested. Links that anyone could've written. Show me the sight threatening ones.
What have you seen? Where have you seen it?I will not be replying again if you insist on having the last word. Best of luck with those complications.
As for this comment.
I never asked you to reply and if you want to cut your nose of to spite your face then that's your choice.
I am not replying so that I can have the last word and never have done so.
I genuinely do not know of the complications that I may be doing to my eyes or my sight. This is why I am asking the questions.
You have obviously taken offense to what I have written even though it is not what I intended. This comment also gives the impression that you are giving me the brush off for not saying "Sorry tidus I'll never do it again"
Again I do not mean to offend you in anyway. You could be the best optician in the world for all I know. You could be the one I come begging to when I have to try and fix the damage I may have caused. But without you telling me that and showing me that I will never know. Will I?0 -
Totally Broke,
The pleasures you can expect to encounter if you carry on wearing lenses in the same way, range from new vessels growing into the cornea (neovascular infiltration eventually resulting in permanent corneal opacity/scarring) in the best case scenario, to corneal ulcers/significant microbial infection resulting in permanent corneal damage and possibly permanent loss of sight in the worst case.
If you need it in glorious technicolour, try this:

I bet if I had a look at your eyes now, I would be able to spot some neovascularisation already.
The fact that all the folks who have taken the time to answer your question agree on this one point, despite having differing views on many other issues, should start some alarm bells ringing.Beware the character seeking personal gain masquerading as a moral crusader.

I'm on the contact lens scheme with specsavers and the bottles of solutions are building up again, i usually sell them on ebay but on the invoice it said if ive got too much solution to give them a ring and lower the amount i receive, if i do this will the payments be reduced aswell.0

I wear o2 optix (also called air optics). I've not been wearing them for long (2 months), at the appointment/assessment i wasn't asked how long I wore them for. I usually wear them for 13 hours a day with one day a week wearing glasses to give my eyes a break. Is this okay? I was under the impression that this was okay because these are premium lens, but just want to be sure.
Also I googled and saw that I could wear them continuously for a week. Does this mean I could occassionally sleep with them in? I'm always too scared to sleep with contants in, incase I can't get them off when I wake up LOL! Is it okay to sleep with them in once in a while?
Thanks!July Win: Nokia 58000 -

I think the best person to ask would be your prescribing optician. TBH it's not possible to say without seeing your eyes.Beware the character seeking personal gain masquerading as a moral crusader.

Thanks for the replies.
I received a letter saying it's been 2 years since my last eye test. (Not 4 as I originally thought). So I will be ringing in the next couple of days to book an appointment. Is checking for neovascularisation something easy to spot or should I ask them to check for it. Could you recommend anything else I should ask them to look for please.
My current lenses are focus dailies and my left eye is 8.6 -1.50 and my right eye is 8.6 -2.50. I'm guessing the 8.6 is the size and the other numbers are the strength.0 -
When you ring, you need to ensure that you book for both an eye exam and contact lens aftercare appointment, so they can allow you extra time if required. Double check with them, but I would wear your lenses to the appointment and anticipate that you will need to remove them and wear your glasses home.Beware the character seeking personal gain masquerading as a moral crusader.

Thanks but I do not have glasses. I'll just not drive to the appointment and will use public transport if I am unable to put lenses in after.
Thanks again0
