Contact Lens Cost Cutting article discussion

I have to use Toric GP lenses because of my astigmatism. They were expensive at around £150 from Specsavers I think, but they last for two years, so it only costs around £6 a month, which is a lot less than the rest of my family pay for contacts.
When I first got them, the optician also told me they were better for your eyes too.
Hi, does this mean that you use the same pair of lenses for 2 years? oh has been told he needs toric lenses by optical express. My daughter (who apparently has the same vision problem as her dad) has just gone on their dd scheme at £6 a month, so he asked about this and was told they don't have a £6 a month scheme and his will be £29.99 a month!!!!!!!!!!!!0 -
Hi,
I need some advice. I have my prescription from Specsavers but when I try and look for the lenses I need on these cheaper sites the numbers I need to choose on the form for my prescription aren't there.
My prescription is:
R - Sph: +1.00 Cyl: -3.25 Axis: 102.0
L - Sph: +0.75 Cyl: -2.75 Axis: 64.0
My Toric lenses arrive with these exact numbers on but no matter which sites I go to they don't seem to have these numbers available.
Also, I am told I can't have dailies due to my astigmatism being too strong so I go for monthlies, does anyone know if I have a chance of using some Day and Night ones or any that I don't have to take out?In the spirit of gloating... you what... I can't gloat on this site anymore? Awww, how unfair.0 -
Are you sure the axis are 102 and 64?
All the disposible torics I know of have at least 5 degree steps, often 10 degree. This is why you can't find this prescription exactly.
Or, are they not actually disposibles? You can get custom made lenses with more acurate axis. In this case you'll get lenses yearly or maybe six monthly and they will come in bottles, not blister packs. If this is the case you probably won't be able to get them online.
I'm also not aware of any continuous wear types that go high enough in cyl power for your prescription.0 -
The axis numbers are what are printed on the prescription given by specsavers. If I recall properly then they are also the numbers on the blister packs. In the spirit of gloating... you what... I can't gloat on this site anymore? Awww, how unfair.0

Are you looking at your spectacle prescription?
Your contact lens presription may be slightly different (indeed you are less likely to have been given a copy...) and is likely to have the axis numbers rounded up of down. Have a look at the blister packs.0 -

Slightly off-topic; does anyone here get a "headache from hell" when they switch from glasses to lenses, or vice-versa?
I get this every time. It's kinda annoying too because the headache does not go away without paracetamol. I don't like taking this regularly.0 -

Have only suffered this once, when my prescription was changed - are you sure your prescription is the same/equivalent? Hi Jackie thanks for replying. I think the prescriptions are right, because originally I got glasses and lenses from the same place. I still got the headaches. I just wondered if many other people get this.0

If I were you, and the headaches have lasted more than a few days, I'd go back/phone up and mention it to your optician, better to be safe than sorry when it comes to your health.
Hope you feel better soon.2.22kWp Solar PV system installed Oct 2010, Fronius IG20 Inverter, south facing (-5 deg), 30 degree pitch, no shadingEverything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the endMFW #4 OPs: 2018 £866.89, 2019 £1322.33, 2020 £1337.07
