i currently use asda opticians but they do have a limited supply of lenses especially from cooper vision, as these are the only lenses i seem to get on with. Now cooper vision have brought out a lot of newer tech lenses and i want to give them a go, are high street opticians happy to just check your eyes i know they will charge but wont they be unhappy you are not buying your lenses from them.
I use currently frequency xcel toric and want to try biofinity toric.

Any optician will charge to fit lenses if you don't intend to stick with them, biofinity are great as are mark ennovoy lenses if you have a high cyl but they are a lot of work to fit, are made to order to take longer to come in and take up a lot of chair time.

We had a cooper rep in recently and the biofinity are staying exclusive to the higher end of the market just now so you will either need to wait to get them or you can switch opticians.
  • I've had my lenses for a year or so now. I don't even need the mirror to put them in !

I have an eye test this weekend and hope the perscription doesn't need to change.

I have thought about buying the lenses in a 6mth batch to save some pennies but I like the facility of popping in for a check free of charge. Specsavers now offer a free pair of glasses as part of the package.

I know some companies offer a 12 month free aftercare service when you pay for your assessment. It may be worth doing the sums to see what works best for you. For me it was an annual assessment with Asda opticians for £15 and then buy lenses when required.
  • Guys I work in the industry and all I can say is stop trying to save money on contact lenses. It is crucial to get the right lens for you. Therefore purchase via a reputable optician and stop messing around on the Internet trying to find the cheapest deal. A good optometrist will fit you with what's best for you. There is so much involved in contact lens technology it is essential to seek professional advice. Your eyes are important. It's not worth economising in this area.

Baddabaddabing, there are so many outlets for contact lenses that charge a lot less for the identical lenses it would be silly to pay high street prices. Nobody on here ever suggests users self-prescribe or ignore professional advice, just that they get value for their money by buying the prescribed items as cheaply as safely possible,

I had a lens check last Sunday and the prescription for one of the lenses has been changed.

Thing is since Dec 2011 I have built up spare lenses due to not changing them every 30 days. Opps!

Still with Specsavers and more than happy. Pay £10 a mth and I don't take the solutions, saves £3 a month. In a year I used a half of what they supplied.
