Not sure what I think of the Blinx eye drops. They don't seem to make a real difference.
I must say that the solution the new lenses are in is much thicker than the solution SS supply in the bottles.
Now on with my 4th set of lenses and all is well. I'd not say the lenses were as good as wearing glasses but the conveniance and feeling of a breeze in my face is great after 30yrs of wearing glasses.0 -

glad you're getting on ok.
i've only used the blinx drops once. as i got the little individual sized ones, i just keep 1 or 2 in my handbag for emergencies. i'm still using the tesco branded ones as they work for me & they're cheap! saying that, i am using them less & less as my eyes seemed to have settled really well with my lenses/solution combination. great comfort & clarity for anything up to 10 hours, well pleased with how it's going.0 -
Nice one Abbie.
Ironically, I now need to look at buying some sunglasses for when I'm out on the motorbike!0 -
It's so nice to be able to buy ordinary off the shelf sunglasses again.0

After using several US comparison sites I managed to get 6 months (that's 12 lenses) of Purevision Toric - extended wear lenses that you leave in overnight for a few weeks at a time... for £50! The very cheapest I found them in the UK was £75+
This was from opticontacts.com
Little tip with all the US sites I used, if you make an account, add what you want to the shopping cart but don't check out... after a few days they sent me a link to finish the sale... ignored it and after a few more days sent me a link to complete with £2 off. Not a huge discount as you're already getting a great deal but may be useful to the dishonest spongers on here :rotfl:0 -
Can someone come back to me on this please.
The lenses supplied instore by SS in December 2011 (1st batch) were Air Optix Aqua 3.25 and although I suffered some dryness, it was nothing major.
I received my 2nd batch last Satuday and the box says easyvision irisian sphere (same spec as the 1st batch)
Since wearing these lenses my eyes seem to be much dryer and I'm using more eye drops.
I called SS Contact Centre (no pun intended) and they say both lenses are the same and made by Ciba
Is it me or would there be a difference in these lenses?
Thanks for all helpful comments

I've waded through the pages here and my 5p's worth, is that when I go to Specsavers I get personal service from a qualified and experienced optician. I'm not an optician and my sight is too important to me, to damage with ill-fitting uncomfortable lenses so I put aftercare and access to an optician I've been going to for around five years for advice, above saving a few quid.0

I might be wrong here, but when the original Air Optix were 'discontinued', they allegdly remained in production and were supplied rebranded exclusively to one of the major chains, whose name begins and ends with 's'. These don't have the moisturisers that the aqua ones do, so it may be that is what you are experiencing.Beware the character seeking personal gain masquerading as a moral crusader.

Anybody know of a comprehensive list of what various opticians charge for contact lens check ups for those of us who buy our lenses online?
Seems that not many opticians publish the price.
All I've found so far is:
Optical Express £20
David Clulow £75 !!0
