I feel your weed pain SW! Let us know how the new weedkiller gets on.
Don't go at 55, unless you'll hop into some other kind of PT work or manage to build up some decent savings and clear the mortgage. I don't think you're ready for a thrifty lifestyle after tightening your belt all these years, and have a few things you want done to your home.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.1 -
Hello ladies, all is well here. I'm keeping my head above water just. Time to stop work for the weekend and enjoy some tv. If i go at 55, there will be £6k from pension, no mortgage and another £6k from lodger. I have some ok savings and am adding to the pot which I do need to increase hence living such a simple life now. I am hoping to put in a new kitchen in next two years but it depends on if i can keep my job, last in first out might count against me. All being well I will hold on for as long as i can.
I cannot wait till I have paid off my credit card in 5 days. Then i have £300 left till the end of the month. Quite excited. Last month i was v good and only bought essentials but credit card was high as i overspent in summer hols. lol. I am visiting Andy in a few weeks and then going on a day visit with Crafty Hants in half term.Aiming for a minimal spend 20222 -
Good to see an update off you, keep treading water and see what happens; also check their redundancy policy as it's not always 2 years required for a small payout. There's also a couple of things you could potentially claim.
Enjoy your trip away.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.0 -
lol no trip away as i was ill. Two year's off feels so far away. I am on half term hols and am going to treat myself to a haircut (£15!). I have barely left the house as there is a bug going round and i was coughing too much. Everyone seems to have a bug of some kind but it isn't Covid thank goodness. There has been an improvement so i am happy. I have been marking every day. It's just fab being off work.
My CC bill is £200 for next month and i have £252 in my current account. I will pay it off today but i still owe £200 for the month after and will try to pay it early from wages.
We may be getting a pay rise of some kind but not sure when it will be after tax. At the mo I have £40 in my Christmas Fund and any pay rise will go to this. Lodger has agreed to pay an extra £50 a month which will ease some of the pressure i hope.
It feels like the early 80s and we are living day to day. I dont know anyone that feels well off. I think there is a rich lady at work but apart from her noone at work has been abroad. I have a small number of things i can sell on Marketplace and will do close to payday.Aiming for a minimal spend 20222 -
Sorry to hear you have been ill SW. There are so many bugs around as well as covid so I don’t blame you for staying indoors. I am pleased you have increased rent for lodger & they have agreed to pay. Everything has gone up so much they are probably getting a very good deal !Have a lovely half term 😊0% credit card £1360 & 0% Car Loan £7500 ~ paid in full JAN 2020 = NOW DEBT FREE 🤗

Hope you're feeling better soon and the pampering haircut lifts spirits.
Are you able to reduce mortgage overpayments to ease the pressure a bit?Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.0 -
Hello i have not been on for ages.
At the time i posted i panicked as we did not think we would get a rise in our wages. I did think i should cut down on mortgage overpayments but decided not to as work gave us a pay rise (of £70 a month which was backdated) so i have bought all my Christmas presents and all the stress is off. I am still saving too.
I did treat myself to a new posh clock at a bargain price of £10 and a new Karcher for an amazing £30 and i only buy food and essentials now. I have not put on Christmas lights up in the street, also i am not going to the work Christmas Party -some sacrifices have been made due to the cost of living crisis. I have £300 to last till the end of the month and only food costs and a few bus fares to pay, i should do v well this month and enjoy Christmas with two trips one to Andy and another to my parents. I hope everyone else is ok and enjoying the time of year.
I will try to catch up on everyone's diaries over the hols.
PS what's an OP? I am one according to my profile. I think it's 'old person'. lol.Aiming for a minimal spend 20222 -
