Lovely to hear from you. I know the pain of new glasses. Mine would cost way over £1000 if I went to an independent optician. Luckily, I am now with a branch of a large chain which I am really impressed with, so the cost is still significant but a lot lower.

Hello Thank you MoneyWorry, the new specs are lovely both pairs. I have just been paid. Due to strikes last month i have lost over a £100 so i am managing on £200 for food and fun this month once the mortgage has been overpaid. The weather today was fab, just mowed the lawn and did two lots of washing.

I have £400 left to pay on my specs next month and i will be really tight with my money this month to manage it.

  • That’s a tight food and fun budget but I’m sure you will manage it. Do you have more strikes coming up? Well done on mowing the lawn! I did cut the grass for DS when I visited but I am thankful I do not have grass at my new house.

lol it rained all day. I watched Coronation which was lovely and then  i marked before and after. I have done something crackers, someone was selling a huge telly on social media and i bought it for £200 using money from the emergency fund. I saved loads at least £300. I will sell one of my old tellies either the 40 or 50 inch ones to recover some money but am so chuffed as i never thought i would ever be able to get one. However I am not buying anything but food til the end of the month.

If you have the money then why not treat yourself to a new tv. Hopefully you can recover some of the cost by selling your smaller one. It’s a shame you didn’t have it in time for the coronation 😆 I bet it would have looked amazing on the big screen!

I am so sorry that I haven't been on  work has been crackers. Just when we thought work was going to calm down  it appears there will be redundancies in one of my areas.  We shall wait to the actual plans between Oct and December.

The new 'second hand' telly arrived, £200 for a 65 inch telly. It is like a cinema! I still cannot believe that i got it at such a cheap price. I watch it every night. Getting it all connected and adding a digital box to my downstairs smaller tv cost £165 as i hired a man from checkatrade. Ridiculous prices to connect up a telly. I have sold one humax box ( which is fab and now raised £30 towards cc bill of £145) and am waiting for my old telly to be collected by a friend. So hopefully that will be more money soon.

With work being so busy with mum's help we have planted green beans, tomatoes, cornflowers & petunias and all i am doing is mowing the lawn and putting down slug pellets. The plan is to have a cheap a summer as possible.
