That's the whole point - THEY DO!. And as for Giles Coren, if you've "not noticed" £79 charges then that £1.50 a week isn't really going to be affecting you.
I wonder how many of these same people complaining about £1.50 a week for unlimited streaming, free next day delivery, free Kindle books etc, are happily paying £500+ a year which is the average Sky package.
It's great that you tell people how to claim the refund, but please, let's not pretend for one moment the blame lies anywhere else except with the people signing up.0 -
Is this going to be the next thing Gladstone Brookes takes up? 'Have you been miss-sold Amazon Prime?'
Never going to happen as you chose to use Amazon Prime no one did behind your back just check out the post above because if you miss all that information then the fault can only be "Between keyboard and chair" in other words you the person who decided they did not need or require to read the information provided.
I personally sign up for the FREE 30 day trial at every opportunity but once my order is confirmed in an email I always cancel it and therefore do not get charged.
Also do not ring your bank over Amazon Prime as they will just tell you to contact Amazon as it is a contract between you and Amazon and the banks will not intervene on your behalf, you will be refunded as long as you have not used any of the services after the trial end date.

I have used Amazon Prime ...
I chose it ....I clicked on it ...it was NOT a scam
I have never known something like this arrive without it needing a click and then usually some more clicks to give information
There was plenty of warnings about the charge and the need to cancel and how to set it up to happen
I then got an Email from Amazon reminding me I could cancel -- which I did without issue
I think this is just people not reading the T&Cs carefully enough and then remembering to take the appropriate action0 -
I was charged and cancelled then demanded a refund.
The CSR had the cheek to refund only the remainder of the £79 based on the fact that my cancel date was a month earlier.
I had to complain before getting my FULL refund.
I did, however, order a garment, whilst on Prime, and got free delivery, which I wasn't charged for so, all round, i THINK I came out on top - but only because I noticed in time.
Incidentally, to the knockers, I am above average intelligence but stuff happens.
NOT the best managed promotion by Amazon, in my opinion."Unhappiness is not knowing what we want, and killing ourselves to get it."Post Count: 4,111 Thanked 3,111 Times in 1,111 Posts (Actual figures as they once were))Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea.0 -
I took the free Amazon Prime trial and stupidly forgot to cancel so ended up with the £79 taken from my bank. I felt it was my fault so did nothing about it and decided I would use it for a year then cancel. However, I never use the films/kindle book borrowing etc and have found that using Amazon Prime delivery, everything has been more expensive! I feel that prices are 'upped' on Prime - sometimes by quite a large amount so I feel well and truly ripped off.0

I found Amazons customer service excellent.
So just give them a call, explain the situation, and 9/10 times they will refund you. I have found them very fair and helpful.
As long as its indeed a legit claim for the refund.
Hopefully there wont be many people reading the MSE newsletter, seeing the article, and putting in a claim for a refund when they knowingly signed up to prime, and abuse the goodwill from amazon on refunds.0 -

Sometimes, Prime items are higher than Marketplace sellers, sometimes they're a lot lower.
If it's beyond your wit to just choose whichever seller is cheapest for that item, then I don't think online shopping is for you....0 -

Yeah, my post was in jest... no need for the caps and coloured text.0 -
I signed up for the free trial consisting of 30 days, yet 10 days later I received an email stating they couldn't take the £79 charge for it... umm, excuse me? There was no option to cancel it just update my card details so they could take the payment. Still, 4 months later, I get the message to update my details :eek:Thanks to all posters :A0
