Surely the funds on an Amazon gift card remain with Amazon at all times?

No need for Amazon to get the funds off anyone else??
Third party companies have certificates available that they don't pay for until they are activated/processed. In this case it appears to have been activated and deactivated quite quickly, so would not have triggered a charge to the third party.

Lots of companies use certificates as gifts/incentives for customers. I get sent them every so often. Presumably some people never activate them and so the money remains with the company who issued them.

Amazon will also sell them at a discount too, so it's not like buying a store voucher or buying from Amazon themselves.

  • Let's not let this get out of hand guys. I sugar-coated the truth, and it's come to light. I realise I shouldn't have signed up for an account due to my age, but can you really blame me when iPads are £320+ elsewhere, then I see amazon has one for £290..

Amazon says they will email back within 24 hours, however 48 hours has gone past and they've not replied to either of my emails. I have tweeted pock.io in an attempt for a faster response, and it appears someone else has tweeted them with the exact same issue. Like I said, I'll keep you guys updated with every response they send me.

Assuming you're still in full/part-time education Apple stores offer a discount.
    I think it's 5% on Ipads.
So your best bet would be to get Pock.io to swap Amazon certificate for Apple.

Apart from the fact that no one actually said that

    Other than you, of course:

"OP can just take Amazon to court to get his money back.

Have you ever thought of writing comedy? Your posts get funnier by the week."

    HTH.
    "Love you Dave Brooker! x"

"i sent a letter headded sales of god act 1979"

    A truncated quote. You posted:
To all those who want to pretend Amazon can't be taken to court:

The relevance of the case you posted (which doesn't actually prove much, other than you can issue a claim against Amazon, I'm yet to see the court ruling) to this case, is about as close to zero as you can get.
At no point have I ever said that "Amazon can't be taken to court", merely that in this case as it was presented in the opening post it would have been pointless without first referring to the company who issued the gift certificate.

Pock.io are now referring back to Amazon, if they come back and say Amazon have the money and they can't get it back, I will be right behind you in recommending issuing court proceedings.

The facts are that you tell people to take Amazon, Ebay and Paypal to court at every given opportunity, mostly when you have not read pertinent facts and presumably have little to no knowledge of the law.

no good working on Amazon until OP gets word back from the retailer pock.io to see if Amazon have the funds.
  • Amazon have the funds. Pock.io will have had to buy the voucher from Amazon to start with. Or bought it from someone (i.e. a wholesaler) who bought it from Amazon. Or do Amazon vouchers just appear by magic now?

Amazon don't bill people for them after they're sold, like sale or return.

There's the proof. Every option is pre-payed by someone before they can get their mitts on them.

Amazon clearly have another reason for blocking the OP. It could be a multitude of reasons, and nobody will ever know until Amazon themselves tell someone.

Regardless the OP NEVER paid Amazon they paid poke.io, so that is who they have a contract with.

so what you are saying is if i purchase a Russell Hobb Kettle from Argos i can get a refund from Russell Hobb as Argos paid Russell Hobb for the Kettle

Proof of some ways they deal, they also have credit accounts for £5000/month plus. Presumably they will be at least 30 days credit.

As I said earlier I've received some third party gift certificates and, in some instances they can appear as if by magic. Some companies can issue Amazon certificate code to any amount, rather than fixed sums.
