Amazon in the US will have many different policies to the UK, they are two different companies. I'd also assume that that policy was for accounts that were closed on friendly terms rather than for other reasons. The gift certificate balance remains on your account for long periods of time, so there could be many reasons why an account would have a credit balance and be closed. Your case is quite different.
Good luck with getting Pock.io to sort it for you.

That policy is not for accounts that were closed on "friendly terms" how was my account closed on "non-friendly terms"

    Anyway, UPDATE:

Someone who also purchased a gift card from pock.io also had their account closed immediately.

The terminology you quoted from the US could well be the account holder closing the account and not Amazon. Even if it does apply here it will apply to existing accounts that had gift certificate credits, not one that has ever really been opened.

I'm not even sure you can claim they closed your account, they go through stages of verification which you never passed. They allow an account to be active whilst they do this to avoid anyone shopping elsewhere. You can only get really annoyed with Amazon when/if Pock.io come back to you and tell you that Amazon have your money.

I see what you mean. Well, it just seems coincidental that the exact same issue happened to someone yesterday who bought a gift card from pock.io

I really think the issue is with them..

It may well be. It could be possible that they have been issuing gift certificates and be in debt to Amazon. If they aren't paying Amazon for gift certificates they are issuing I could understand why Amazon would have a problem. Obviously that's making assumptions based on what you have already mentioned and may well not be the case.

I'd start contacting Pock.io through social media, a few tweets to them may well get them to sort it out a little quicker for you.

Maybe Pock.io is a no no for now then. Can under 18's buy those pre paid visa cards? might be another way if you need to purchase online again.

but all this is pointless as the OP has no contract with Amazon.

If Amazon have taken the £300, then yes, he most certainly does have a contract with him, like it or not. And in that case, it would be Amazon that he pursues through the courts.

We're not at that stage yet, but it is an interesting anomaly. There are a few different things that could be happening here. It would depend on why Amazon stopped the use of the gift certificate. It may not be as cut and dried as taking Amazon to court and would need legal advice.

who says they have the £300, when they place the GC on your account it is just a promissory note that you can use £300 of credit while they get the funds from their reseller, which could be the same day, the next day or a months time, depending when Amazon accounts department invoice the reseller.

Learn to read, I said 'if'.

And most certainly 'IF' they have the money and don't give it back to pokemon, then they are in contract and they are the ones to be taken to court. The OP could look at pokemon and take them, but they could show that they supplied the goods and Amazon have taken the goods and not fulfilled the agreement.

Yes, of course we are awaiting more details from the OP for a clearer picture. But that doesn't mean Amazon cannot have formed a contract and it does not mean their T&C veto English law, which ever country they hide in.

but as i stated it depends on when Amazon invoice pock.io for the funds, which they wont do on a daily basis, so until the OP arrives back after speaking to Pock.io to see if the have passed funds to Amazon or not
