No OPs today, it's been a spendy week. But I have put some coppers and two £2 coins into Percy Pig. TFIF!! DD has two wks lefts at primary schoolso she's feeling a bit sensitive generally. I'm being patient and making (some) allowances. She is having a friend over tomorrow, and we're going into our nearest town to go shopping; we live in a little village so no shops. The plan is for me to sit in a coffee shop and read, and for DD + friend to go off mooching by themselves for ten minutes at a time. First time she's done this, but given that she's going to big school in September .... I thought it was a good idea when I planned it and now I'm not so sure !!
Hi steppie just wanted to add my experience as it seems just like yesterday when my DD was leaving primary and now she's finishing year 8
It is so hard to let them have their freedoms and I used to worry so much when DD first started going to the shops/ on the bus and to school all by herself (she has to get two buses to school where we live and with both us working no one to drop her :S). But as long as your DD knows what to do in case of an emergency ( ie go to a shop and ask assistance from the shop keeper, approach a mum with children etc... ) she will be ok. The world is not such a bad place and eventually we have to put our trust in it, I don't know if that makes sense?
But you are right in starting with small steps, allowing her to mooch the shops while you nearby, even if she decides she doent want to this time, encourage her next time and so on
My DD goes here there and everywhere now and I do still worry sometimes, but it's part of growing up and prepares them for the real world. Plus these days they have phones so that provides extra reassurance.
Good luck and have fun0 -
Thanks so much DFB for the reassurance
in the end both girls wanted me to mooch with them
we walked miles! But there were encouraging signs of growing independence while we were in shops; DD was content for me to be at one end of the shop while she was at the other, and that's a first! I'm not daft enough to think it was my company they wanted, oh no, it was the purse and the ability to carry many bags
. I got my hair cut (just a dry cut, so £18) while I was there too. It definitely needed doing and looks lots better. And I also bought a swimming costume for my hols. DD got some jeggings that she paid for herself, and I bought her a top in the sale from Monsoon - the only time I buy anything there - for £8. I also bought some lovely factor 50 face cream from B00ts. So far too spendy
but all needs, not just wants. And some good quality time with DD and her friend. Soo tired now!!

Sounds like a lovely day was had by all Step!! I've got Factor 30 face cream, with added treatment for rosacea which whilst I don't have it, my skin tends to head for a red and flushed look rather easily. It feels lovely and has worked wonders. Avene thermale... the french one in B00ts. Very nice!
Big hugs xxx

I might have to investigate that, thanks, lilty
I've been going through the accounts tonightand I can see that I will not be making too many OPs this month. So far this month I have paid out:
£140 for Ibiza flights
£200 for Ibiza deposit
£175 for ice cream machine
£385 for holiday let insurance
All from my current account and not from cards :T and my lovely dad has said he'll pay for the ice cream machine
I'm going to start putting the insurance money aside every month I think, it was a bit of a jolt to realise it was due. But still... The silver lining is that I could pay for it out of my current account and I didn't have to put it on a card:T

:heart2: < for lovely parents! That's lovey of your Dad to pay for the ice cream machine Step.
My folks have just gifted me £150 towards the garden materials I'd already paid for. So lovely of them and will be of much help this month. Still deciding what to do with it, will probably spread it around my savings 'pots' and top those up a bit.
Sounds like DD had a lovely day at the shops. It's so hard letting then do things by themselves isn't it. I say that and mine's only 4 and already I struggle! I just want to wrap him up in cotton wool all the time, I don't know how I'm going to cope later on.
Great that the insurance didn't go on the cards too. :T
Sending you lots of love, I'm not posting much these days, but am still reading and cheering you all on from the sidelines.

Well evening all! Not too much to report tonight but it's good discipline to check in every day, right? Small change, including a £2 coin into Percy Pig tonight. We've been to DD's school production of Joseph.. They all tried so hard, it was great
very proud mummy. Hard to compute that she has only got 2 weeks left of primary school. Leavers assembly next week, I'll be in pieces

Hi everyone
Not too much to report. Did a footpath at work today with such a gorgeous view..
A bit of loose change into Percy Pig. Payday is next Wed, so I'm waiting to make any OPs direct to the CC until then. Our village is doing a 'party in the paddock' thing on Saturday, so we'll be doing a picnic to take up there with our gazebo and chairs.. And bunting and candles etc. there's a prize for the best dressed gazebo! :rotfl: and I'm supposed to be singing in the choir  I have not been to enough rehearsals so it could be that I just mime....LBM 1st Feb 2015 £18182 to go

Hi DFOD, thanks for dropping by
I won the prize for best dressed gazebo :T I think it was the tablecloth and flower centrepiece that swung itThe prize was a bottle of champagne
And the singing bit went quite well too.
As far as being MSE.. Well all I can say is thank goodness pay day is tomorrow! No emergencies, but I still seem to have spent a fair bit more than I needed to. Another expensive month. We've also had a broken shower to replace - in the holiday let, while guests were in .. Luckily they've been very understanding, and we replaced it within 24 hrs of them telling us. We gave them a bottle of wine by way of an apology.
I'm super stressed at work at the moment.. Absolutely tons to do and only 8 working days til we go on hols. Not quite sure how I'm going to fit it all in. Plus the logistics of childcare between now and then. It's all a bit of a juggle. Hey ho... I'm sure it'll work out in the end xxLBM 1st Feb 2015 £18182 to go
