We know that!!!!! I thought about bringing that up but it does not matter as Sainsburys Energy Still comes out as one of the cheapest!!!

This thread does not need to continue!
  • This thread could continue until Christmas and the OP still wouldn't quite understand how paying for energy works - essential life skills like this should be taught in school.

I admit I don't know anything about how energy works, trying to learn it all now, wish I had been taught in school, have no idea about Tariffs, calorific
value, kwh things etc. You know you leave 12th form comprehensive school and then when you move into your own place you don't know anything about Energy prices, calorific value, KWh things. They should teach you things like that in school that you will need to know in life, rather than Chemistry etc. Anyhow.

Well when I called the Price Comparison PLace they said based on your annual readings Sainsburys is cheaper, but based on your current readings and current estimates with your current company then 1st Utility works out better. I asked her which one I should go with and she said well as most of your annual reading is from another smaller property you lived in you would be better off going with the latestest reading in your new property.
I lived in a flat from Summer 2013 - summer 2014 and move into a house, where I am still living summer 2014 until now. I switched to my current company in December this year.

So not sure whether Sainsburys or 1st utility is my best option, the lady on the phone said probably 1st utility as they gave the best option based on your current bill and current annual projection with your current property.

I appreciate how confusing it can all be. Some people may not be able to get their head around it all as easily as others.

But..... the answer is to switch. It is not a big decision. Pick one of the cheapest, any one.....it really is that simple.

Based on my calcuations from your low figures, national average figures and high usage figures, Sainsburys Energy comes up repeatedly as one of the cheapest....

    So switch
  • Yes, I have made the switch to first Utility. Am a bit nervous, hope I have made the right choice. The most important thing is to save money.

Yes. It's probably best if we keep quiet about this contradiction:

(Plus, the OP is still not providing sensible inputs. To save more than £900 per year the usage would have to be more than 29,000 kWh for gas and 10,000 kWh for electricity or some other such extreme mix.)

I have given all the information I have in terms of the usage though.

I got an email today from first Utility which says
Unfortunately, due to the specific meter type that you have, we’re unable to supply you with energy on the tariff you chose on your application.

So not sure who to go with, sainsburys? Ovo?
