When my daughter was three, if she didn't tidy her toys away before bedtime when asked, I didn't make a fuss. What I did do tho was, once she was in bed I gathered all the toys up, put them in a bag and locked them in the garage, her face the next morning was a picture to be honest. She had to earn them back, things like tidying her things away, hanging her coat up, just little things, then I let her choose something out of the bag.
At the time it taught her to tidy up, she's 19 now, thinking about the amount of organised chaos that she seems to live in maybe I should do it again, lol!0
