    I'm 5'7/8. If that's relevant.

I'm the same height and would kill to weigh 10 stone!

Being serious now- because you don't have a lot to lose, you might struggle so maybe look at exercise for toning?

5:2, low carb and calorie counting have all worked for me in the past. Separately, of course!

    Good luck :)

The "perfect" size and shape is pretty subjective.

My wife is an inch shorter than you and nearly two stone lighter. I would say that she is the perfect size and shape. Secretly I think that she would agree, although I doubt she would ever say it herself.

If you read my post thoroughly, you will see that I said I am the perfect shape and size IMO. *I* think my body shape and size, and my weight is perfect.

10 stone at 5 ft 7 inches is a very good and healthy weight. And I look great. I would not want to be any different.

If your wife is happy weighing 8 stone at 5 ft 6, and YOU are happy with her at that weight, then good for the two of you.

But I am actually pretty sure that weighing 8 stone at 5 foot 6 is underweight.

Here we go. The NHS healthy weight chart.

    http://www.nhs.uk/Livewell/healthy-living/Pages/height-weight-chart.aspx

5 ft 7 (me) and 10 stone (me) - smack bang in the middle of HEALTHY. (The yellow section.)

5 ft 6 and 8 stone is clearly in the underweight section. (The white section.)

    Nuff said.

Yes - I'm going to try out some routines to do after work too, if nothing else it should help me sleep!

At my heaviest I was 10st 8lb, which just put me into the overweight group for my height. It took me about a year to get down to 9st, which puts me in the middle of healthy - but no matter what I do I can't get down below this (I would love to lose another half stone but I doubt I'll ever do it).

I do think it's easier to lose weight when you're heavier because if you're not carrying much extra then just an extra snack each day can spoil all your efforts at restraint.

We all seem to have our perfect weights, I think mine is 9. As a teen I was under 8 stone but I didn't notice how thin I was, 9 was a happy medium. Massive well done to you Roz :)

But like I said - if I became more toned but still 10st I'd have no problems there! Thanks Jaylee x

Just eat fewer calories. Don't get bogged down with carbs/proteins/sugar/etc food groups, it just leads to failure.

Of course - cut down to 1500 calories (3 Mars Bars or a whole range of protein/veggies/salads) and see whether what type of food you're eating affects how well you do in losing weight.:rotfl:

I think it really is just calories. The trouble is that some are burned off quicker leaving you hungry again - and so if you had a mars-bar for each meal you'd probably be snacking again later in the day.

I think the best way to lose weight is to try something like the 5:2 and also to try and eliminate processed foods (like cake, crisps, sweets, pastries, pies etc), and to cut back on alcohol and sugary drinks like coke and fruit juice.
