I'm 5ft 6" and weigh just under 8 stone. I'm very athletic, and have always been. I'm a competitive runner in my spare time and have good muscle tone. I've always been very small, I eat a good balanced healthy diet. My weight has been a concern, and I was referred to a dietician, but they could find no fault in what I was doing. Because I train I eat enough, way more calories than an average woman's recommended intake. I guess this is just how I was made!? My Dr is completely happy with me, so that's all that is important to me.0

Its basically an exercise to music class that doesn't do very much for people, because you cant put enough weights on the bar for anything you do in the class to be very effective (I know some people put 20kg or so on but much more than that you need a squat rack).
Not enough weights for strength and not enough reps for endurance, but I see people posting on their facebook pages about how they are getting ripped from doing body pump and the like. Les Mills and similar have their place, but Id definitely say if someone does want to do body pump, or attack or combat it should be as well as lifting weights and HIIT or not at all.
I used to do a lot of body attack and it got me fit but that's all I did, I definitely feel better with strength training, HIIT and some boxing classes.
I think though if you've never done any sort of weight training you have to build up some strength before you can go onto the serious stuff and BodyPump can be useful for that. I personally don't like it because the quick changeovers mean that people don't have the time to think about form as much as they maybe should but as you say, it's a good way to get fit. And it will make a decent start if you want to get into shape.Val.0 -

1-2lbs a week is best.
I once lost 2 and half stone in 10 weeks. I did not starve myself.
I eat three meals a day. With my evening meal being a huge bowl of steamed veg with a chicken breast or veggie sausages and gravy
I cycled about 5 miles 5 days a week.
And it just fell off. Need to get back in to it. Not in the correct frame of mind at the moment or any motivation I did back then as needed to fit in to my wedding dress LOL!!!
Good luck.

Those BMI charts are depressing, to be a healthy BMI i need to lose about 7.5 stone  I'm classed as morbidly obese (currently size 18-20)
At my smallest weight (cant remember what weight i was) i was about a size 8-10 and i looked skeletal. You could see my ribs, my collar bones, my hip bones. But even then i dont think i was at my ideal BMI weight. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
