Yes but what I was meaning was what shows up on the phone as to why he thinks the networks change when he moves atound

I agree with you, what he is saying makes no sense. Hopefully he will come back and explain a little better.

A few years ago I was with Orange and when they joined with Tmobile, the network shown on my phone would change to Tmobile if they had a stronger signal. Is that what the OP means?
  • My provider is EE, but they share networks with Orange and T-Mobile so as I drive around the symbol on my phone changes whenever I switch between the networks but that doesn't influence my bill .EE are the actual company my contract is with. Sorry for the confusion.
It does seem to say on their website over and over that once you reach your allowance it cuts off, so I'm hoping (beyond hope, really) that that may be a way to get a reduction, at least. Sheesh ...

I wonder if something has gone wrong, and you haven't been switched over properly from Orange to EE, and you've been left behind on some out of date tariff.

But on the other hand mobile phone customers should take responsibilities for what they do on the phone.

agreed but surely carriers should first make the user aware that the agreed data limit is being reached and then if the user confirms continuation (authorizes) than the onus is on the user.

there has to be a middle ground on this as not all are savvy with the new "smartphones" and the way background apps refresh and eat up data. or users forget what the agreed data was.
  • They say that the customer has to pro-actively activate the cut-off service whereby your data will be automatically stopped when you reach your limit, otherwise you're allowed to keep using mobile data until your bill reaches £750! This is because customers didn't like getting annoying text reminders that they were about to be charged £7/mb ... I'll have the option to pay the bill in installments. Yay! Beware, folks, there be dragons in that small print ...

    I can't believe this.
If you are for real and are on EE, get your call escalated to someone competent, quote them what I quoted and demand all extra charges cancelled. If they refuse, demand clear explanations backed by some documents, not just words.

Have you even seen this 'small print' that you/they keep referring to?

I suggest you heed my advice from post#6 at the start of this thread............

Seems it may only be certain plans ...so you need to check which plan you have.

From time to time, you may use more data than you expect. But don't worry, you can't run up a massive bill without realising.
Once you've used your plan's inclusive allowance (available for certain EE plans starting before 24 March 2014) we'll let you know and you won't be able to get back online until you've bought a data add-on.
It's not just about the money

TBH, I've read several times this "available for certain EE plans ..." written by some idiot, and I am still at loss what exactly is "available".

It reads as "allowance available", but this makes no sense whatsoever.
