Huge charges from EE for going over data allowance.

I've just had a £320 bill from EE (usually £11/m) for going over my 1gb monthly allowance by 40mb, and have just been told that my next bill is already at £650 for next month! Can I reclaim this month's charges and stop the next month's? Or is there something else I could do? I really need some help with this as I do not have the money to pay these bills. (And also, are these particularly large charges for mobile data?)
Many thanks!

How much do they charge for data once you reach the limit .
Certainly very high charges posted .
How do they know what you are going to use next month its 3 weeks away .

If you were not a newish poster I'd suggest you stop going over your data allowance

  • I can't find their charges for going over allowances (surprisingly, they're not all that clear ...). They're saying that I'm over this month's allowance (billing period ending 9th February) by £650 already. It works out at around £6.50/mb - again, is this good, bad or normal, I wonder?

Trust me, I've turned my data thing off! And I've been with them for 18 months or so and have never gone over before, and my behaviour hasn't changed. Oh, man ...

I was under the impression these days that when you were getting close to the limit they informed you beforehand and gave you the option of adding a bundle ?

Seems it may only be certain plans ...so you need to check which plan you have.

From time to time, you may use more data than you expect. But don't worry, you can't run up a massive bill without realising.
Once you've used your plan's inclusive allowance (available for certain EE plans starting before 24 March 2014) we'll let you know and you won't be able to get back online until you've bought a data add-on.

You may get some help from them if you ask to have retrospective bundles applied
It's not just about the money

EE don't allow you to use more than your allowance, I presume you must actually be on Orange or T-Mobile?

Do you know why you have used so much ?

Id download the 3G Watchdog app or Onavo Count app, they tell you how much data you have used.

/\ i think what you just said is spot on every user should do this and only turn it on as and when needed its becoming very common and i am see so many thread similar to the OP.

this is what i do as soon as i get a new phone or use any phone. have never ever gone over the agreed data.

also i think providers should have caps on data relative to the customers plans and only upon customers consent remove the cap so that should eliminate suprise bills

You have a contract and you went over the allowance.

So you don't get to have this month's bill refunded and next month's cancelled.

What you get to do, is learn how your phone works. You have installed an app that is causing background refreshing or downloading/updating behind the scenes. This is not EE's responsibility.

If you ask very nicely to the customer sev ice, they may be able to offer you a goodwill gesture. But there is nothing you can demand.

This is correct if there was no any billing error that are very common at EE for mobile data.
