Huge charges from EE for going over data allowance.

My understanding is that if you don't buy an add-on, your mobile data simply stops and you can't exceed your allowance.
Texts are just for your convenience and are less important.0 -

Apparently not, it seems with EE ... But I'll start again with Customer Services in the morning. Thanks again for your input and research - I appreciate it.0

I don't mean to be rude but are you sure???
If so, There must be a system error or something because as PPs have said, you cannot normally exceed your allowances without buying bundles. If this is the case, you should get yr money back.0 -
You're not with EE.
You're with Orange or T-Mobile. Most likely orange.0 -

Not sure what you mean by this?
The network provider remains the same
What network shows on your phone screen? It's not just about the money0 -

When i last had a contract i was with Tmobile and my dad had one contract in my name, anyway he kept calling those numbers that cost because he is thick when it comes to modern tech and kept running up massive bills, they would usually cut me off around 200 quid. They never text me to say i went over anything.
In reality, i think you are eligible to pay really.... however excessive you feel the costs are.
But if they do insist that they send text message to avoid you going over your allowance and don't, i'd tell them i was going to report them to whoever regulates them to try and get out of paying it. It would bug me.0 -

What do you mean the network changes as you move around?martywater wrote: »EE is the contractor and it's over a year old.
Don't worry about what it says on the phone, all 3 networks say EE.
What does it say on your bill? What does it say on your bank statement when they take the direct debit?
EE (the new 4G network) has capped data so it would seem unlikely to be them.====0
