Amusingly, for the first years we were together I used to do all of the cooking for WaSp, then I became ill and couldn't. We had the oddest meals for the first few months and I had to give him cooking instructions. I remember 4 days of boil in the bag cod with a slice of bread on one bad week. He is a very good cook now but there are still some dinners that I have to call out instructions for. I used to love cooking and was quite good at it, it's something I really miss, Milliefleur also loves cooking so had prepared every meal and never taught WaSp how to cook.
Occasionally we cook together if there is a meal he won't attempt like lasagne or more exotic curries, his chilli is amazing though..This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Hahahahahahaha! Ok, WaSp isn't that bad! He is fine with anything microwavable and ready meal style foods which we ate for quite a while when I was too ill to even give instructions. Now he has quite a list, but he won't attempt a roast dinner even though I tell him it's easy. Hence we only have around 4 a year when I feel clear headed enough/am not in pain to be able to do most of it.Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

Well, this isn't good. A note just appeared under the door telling us that our windows are being replaced tomorrow. Thanks for the notice! The flat is need of a good tidy and furniture needs to be moved for access to windows. I am going to be proactive...and dive into the back of the duvet fort. Oh how silly WaS, surely they could have given you more notice than that? Still, sooner they start, the sooner they finish and all that lol.0

Much less time to worry about it! The window fitters will take no notice of the tidiness of your rooms, they will just be focussed on the job. And this is proof that the new landlords are improving the property. Tomorrow windows, next week mushrooms?Deal with things as they are, not as they should be.0

I used to whine the old landlord was bad for only giving 24 hours notice, it seems I had it good! I am following my own advice here and breaking it down into bitesize chunks, the main thing is to give them access to windows and clear plants away, etc. It isn't the best day because WaSp needs to take the car in for an MOT in the morning, plus I haven't had time to cancel my carer which I will now need to do first thing because I don't fancy having a shower and doing physio exercises while someone is possibly replacing windows! WaSp is having a strop and saying if they give that little notice then they take things as they find them. Landlords don't tend to think that way so not really helpful...Having said that it won't be too perfect with this little notice.
Hahahaha! Currently the mushrooms have all fallen off again but they will be back! Hopefully they will do something about those next. They also want to check the fire doors sometime this week. It isn't easy for me to work on sometime with having a carer and WaSp needing to go shopping and him visiting Milliefleur. On the bright side it gives me no time to panic...
There is also the point that the letter says that I will need to be here to let them in. Suppose I was at work or had a hospital appointment?Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

I expect that if you weren't there, the landlord or his agents might let themselves in. Which is fine if you can trust them, not so fine if you can't. It is dreadful that you have to faff around with things like cancelling carers, thoughEx board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).0

Does anyone know anything about health anxiety? Would "copying" symptoms fall into this? Ie visiting person who has lost use of hands and voice, and when the person with possible health anxiety leaves after the visit, they are suddenly not able to talk properly and are holding their hands by their chest as if they have also stopped working. Without going into details (I'd be here all night) someone close to me is at their wits end with worry about this person who is basically refusing to do anything to look after themselves, (although they can if they have to), and we are wondering what the next step is - they've been through all the consultants at the hospital except the mental health ones and had a multitude of physical ailments ruled out. Now wondering if a request for psychological assessment might be the way to go, as it's seriously impacting on daily life and health? E.g They're losing weight through not eating properly, but when prescribed build up drinks seem pleased that it "proves" they're not well. It's a real mess.
Edit - sorry folks, not ignoring the rest of you, it's just I've been on the phone having my ear bent for 2 hours and I thought if anyone might know it's likely to be someone here. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

That sounds fascinating, but is seriously outside my area of expertise
oooo, though.......As ever, Google is your friend.
http://www.clinicaladvisor.com/separating-anxiety-from-physical-illness/article/117767/ talks about medical mimics.
And I don't know whether the person you are worried about is denying any psych component, but I wonder if discussing it further on this forum might help. http://www.nomorepanic.co.uk/showthread.php?t=128295Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).0 -
I have a lot of health anxiety, mainly thanks to the voices who like to tell me that I am dying of something on a weekly basis. What you said fits, if I am around someone with physical ill health symptoms I can develop the same and become convinced that I have the same condition. I can also find I have the same symptoms as a character on tv or in books. It is largely a phobic reaction and is best dealt with by using CBT techniques but it takes practice. For me, it tends to get worse if I am anxious in general, my brain tends to filter random anxiety into something it feels is more tangible so I develop symptoms of illnesses instead, the more severe the more likely.
I can develop very painful symptoms as a result of it, it feels very real at the time and can last for days. I am sure everyone remembers the dying of liver failure episode which went on for a while. The thing is, it feels as if you really have the condition so you concentrate more on the symptoms which makes them worse and increases anxiety which your brain then filters into the thoughts that you are unwell and you end up in a huge neverending circle. I have suffered with this since shortly after my dad died when I was 13 when I had regular chest pains for a year on the left hand side, mimicking the chest pains he used to get with heart disease.Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France
