Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0 -
Hmmm.... am about to leave work and the chances of getting to the gym this evening are remote to non-existent. I have no excuse other than utter apathy. Stupid thing is, I usually really enjoy it once I get in there.
On the plus side, have actually managed to get quite a bit of work done today. But that's now making me think I can just go home and relax :rotfl:.0 -

I remember doing that in the early days of MSN messenger (would be about 1999/2000 or so). I discovered that once I turned 30 I could no longer manage all-nighters and fell asleep on the desk around 7am  - fortunately that was a Sunday morning, not a work day!Proud member of the wokerati, though I don't eat tofu.Home is where my books are.Solar PV 5.2kWp system, SE facing, >1% shading, installed March 2019.Mortgage free July 20230 -

My old CPN used to help me make lists of thing to do, to break it down into little things, even as far as have a shower and get dressed. She never expected me to do all of the things on the list and she made me tell myself that even if I could achieve only one thing from the list then that was progress no matter how small it seemsThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. Grr...OH whinging because I wouldn't let him use a memory stick. I wasn't being stroppy, it genuinely has things on I need. He's so used to me doing everything he wants I think it surprised both of us when I said no :rotfl:.
Think he's going to have a rude awakening when he's left to fend for himself. It made me smile that he ended up with a packet of crisps for his tea yesterday as I didn't cook for him. Don't get me wrong, I don't wish him any ill...but can't help finding it amusing that he's finally starting to realise how good he's had it for years, and how much he's lost. Yeah that makes me sound big-headed lol...hey, I'm a catch :rotfl:.0 -
Yes, yes you are tea! A huge catch!
Amusingly, for the first years we were together I used to do all of the cooking for WaSp, then I became ill and couldn't. We had the oddest meals for the first few months and I had to give him cooking instructions. I remember 4 days of boil in the bag cod with a slice of bread on one bad week. He is a very good cook now but there are still some dinners that I have to call out instructions for. I used to love cooking and was quite good at it, it's something I really miss, Milliefleur also loves cooking so had prepared every meal and never taught WaSp how to cook.
Occasionally we cook together if there is a meal he won't attempt like lasagne or more exotic curries, his chilli is amazing though. I am attempting to teach him how to bake currently, it isn't going well but he will get there.Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France
