Oh dear, NCIS_fan. What a lot to go through on top of a forced move.
You've certainly been through the mill finding another GP. Let's hope the one your father has found will come up trumps.

Would you qualify for any help in getting stair lifts put in?
Or adapted living housing? I don't know anything about it myself, but I would have thought you'd be entitled to some sort of help in finding suitable accommodation?

  • We don't know how long we will be here so we don't want to put in a stair lift yet as I think there are conditions such as having to stay in the same house for so many years. We want to see if this place will be good for us or not. We nearly did get an adapted council house. Stair lift, ramps, wet room the lot. Then the tenants currently there decided they didn't want to move after all so we didn't get it. I'm just so exhausted with it all. Honestly I think the antidepressants I take for my migraines are the only reason I haven't had a break down yet. Oh and the next door neighbours cats have pooed everywhere in our garden, dug up plants in pots, pooed in the pots etc.

NCIS_fan you having a tough time.

What a mare you have had/having. I think pyxis might be right about help with accommodation. I have heard stories of people on local housing list getting more points by going to the dr's and getting a letter because they are stressed/depressed.

I would have thought you get some sort of priority as going up and down stairs on your bum is not safe and any good to you.

Just before my husband came out of hospital after his stroke we had an OT visit and decide what he needed. And rails up the stairs and bath board etc were all supplied free of charge to us.

But you are in rented so I doubt the landlord will allow that to happen. So a letter from the OT would hold some weight that the property is not suitable for your needs.

I see we cross posted about local authority housing.

I only just joined this thread a few weeks ago. And everyone has been so kinda.

    Take care

    Yours

Life flings everything out at once, doesn't it? Happy Birthday for a couple of days ago. Dis you manage to celebrate it? I'm sure someone here will be along with a cake soon.

Well done on not accepting the GPs you knew were wrong for you. I'm hearing a strong woman in there. Having the right doctor on board makes a lot of difference, so I'm glad you are holding out.

  • I did have a nice day. I got some lovely stuff from my family, mostly Frozen themed lol. Which my bro and sis said made things easier. We went out to a near by beach, used some change we saved up on the amusements and I even ma hard a short walk on the beach. Though the walk exhausted the heck out of me. But feeling the sand between my feet was worth the pain and tiredness.

@stoodles they said they will keep me on their books until I find a more suitable practise. I'm not been awful and yes complimentary medicine has its place but I want to be treated by a doctor who will listen to me and specialists and also will actually treat my conditions. Not prescribe therapy which won't cure the pain. I accepted a long time ago I'm not gonna walk properly again. I will always need a crutch and wheelchair. I will always be in pain. But I want a doctor who will work WITH me to create an effective strategy. The man treated me like a drug addict and talking about my addiction! If I was addicted I would have jumped at the pain clinics offer of morphine years ago.

OH had a long spell of disabling back pain, and it made such a difference having the GP and Pain Clinic working together through each option in turn. The GP was really helpful about what were really the maximum doses of painkillers, and how to combine them most effectively. OH has a metabolism like a pair of oxen, and they pushed some of the doses way up above the what the box leaflet said was maximum.

He also got referred to a Psychologist by Pain Clinic, and was worried it was going be all airy fairy, or that he'd be told it was all in his head. Instead they offered practical advice on how the brain manages pain pathways, and on ways to fight back against the low mood that comes with constant pain.
  • I try and limit how much I take. It means a little more pain but I try and not be dependent. I refused morphine because I don't want my degree getting interfered with. Morphine would have me off my head at first. They wanted me to have one of those pump thingies. If you see what I mean.

Would you mind me asking what causes the pain?

They arent hundred percent sure. They know I have hypermobility in my lower joints, if I went to hospital for every dislocation I would spend my life there lol, and have severe sciatica with severe lower back pain due to unknown underlying causes. I have other conditions. I actually have a list somewhere for when needed lol. Quite a few neurologists suspect I have MS but until I have an MS lesion show on a scan they won't diagnose it. They have been arguing over that since I was 15. I'm 24 now. The pain can leave me bed ridden if not controlled because I then can't move. Hemiplegic migraines are a pain too. But with them it's the after effects. The souring speech, the loss of grip and mobility, the drooling when I drink lol. They wanted the pump to constantly medicate me they said. I'm unsure how it would all work.
Sorry I'm dyslexic so any spelling mistakes I apologise for
