It would be fantastic on the cv (company do the civils HSE for JLR)
There is work for 5 years, so if I like and they like scope to up the role. Earning potential is huge.
Problem is OH can't be left for 12 hour shifts (of which there would be many).

Is there any chance that if you discuss this with them, there might be room for negotiating the shifts?

Sorry, this post is very out of date as I wrote most of it last night, then forgot to press send.

Public Health recently asked me to put together a perinatal project along the lines of a very successful one which Mind have piloted recently. So I did a lot of research about what had worked in one of the very successful projects. The main thing I took away from it was that the mums in the project gained an awful lot from meeting each other and finding out that the 'perfect mum' doesn't exist! It sounded a bit like this thread, actually - they got tons of help from just meeting and texting each other and sort of admitting that they were just bungling through, stayed in their nightie all day some days etc.

(So there is absolutely NO reason to worry about the state of the house when baby professionals visit!)

One of the interesting things about the project, by the way, is that is wasn't marketed as a mental health project at all. It just targeted mums at risk of isolation - but improved everyone's mental health no end! So there's an ENORMOUS tick in the 'mental health is everyone's concern' box :)

melly - good luck with solicitors, and condolences on the job!

    hugs to all xxx

One thing that I found immensely helpful, both in pregnancy, but more so afterwards, was the National Childbirth Trust. Now,this was many years ago, but the most valuable thing was being allotted a "Postnatal Supporter", who was another local mum who'd had a baby in the last year or two, who would befriend you and be there to chat, discuss worries, pop to the shop for you etc.

This was wonderful! She'd be on the end of the phone, or come round for coffee and compare notes, etc.

I had one, and then a little while later I became one. You can often make a lasting friend through that, although that's not specifically the aim, and as you become more experienced, sometimes the relationship naturally dwindles. For me, though, it was invaluable, particularly with my second, as I was on my own by then.

Might be worth looking into, because you can build up the relationship gradually while you are pregnant.

Surely just being offered the job will look great on your cv? Along with "unfortunately unable to take up for personal reasons" to show that you were fine with it, it wasn't the right time, and don't ask!
Hugs to all that need them this lovely spring day.

    Morning my lovelies,

what a bad night it was gone 4am before I drifted off to sleep then kept waking up every 45 mins or so. So feel like a big bag of poo:rotfl:

My own fault for sleeping most of yesterday afternoon. Oh well.

Going to look up some videos on kettlebell routines. I have one and only use it to do a few swings every few days. Need to get toned and fit. and lose close to 3 and half stone

Need to stop being so lazy.

Being a mum is a hard job. You don't get any practice at it. And no one can teach you it. You learn on the job. long hours and no pay.

I love my kettlebells - you can use them in the same style as dumbbells for doing overhead presses and hold them for squats as well as doing swings :)

    Right
Shelter meeting was good they don't understand why they won't move us next door either so they're going to ask.
They also think it might be time for the housing ombudsman as we were never consulted about the change in policy regarding children in upstairs flats

I have just been over to the sports and fitness board and asked for some hints and tips.

I have changed my diet but I am emotional binge eater. I did get up last night to go to the shop and bought a sandwich meal deal,So a sandwich, pkt of crisps and a diet fizzy drink, a packet of oreo's and a 3 pack of lu biscuits with chocolate and ate the lot and felt sick.

At the moment I eat berries and yogurt for brekkie, steamed salmon/chicken breast salad with a couple of baby pots for lunch. And tea is steamed chicken breasts with steamed veggies and a couple of baby pots. And once a week a spag bog made from a jar. I know very boring but it works for me. Don't have to think about it.

need more exercise as want to get fit and leaner. As way to fat at the moment.

I'm at least 4 stone overweight at the moment. It went on very quickly, over the course of 6 months through a combination of meds, comfort eating and suddenly stopping a previously active life. I've very gradually shed 9 pounds, but I seem to be stuck. Any sort of diet is something to fail at and hate myself for, so I'm just focussing on eating more veg and trying to get to the allotment several times a week. The two compliment each other nicely.

Yesterday I discovered beetroot and redcurrant smoothie, made with last year's frozen goodies. It tastes fab - a much better lunch than two toasted cheese sandwiches and a bag of marshmallows.
