Hope the ice pack works WaS.
Hugs Katy. I haven't been there, but I'm absolutely certain it's normal to worry about anything and everything at this stage! As others have said, help and support is out there. Hope you have a good day today x.
How can I have this much to do when I'm leaving in two days? How can I be leaving in two days?? Have been here half an hour already. Total panic set in yesterday afternoon and hasn't left since (hence, about two hours sleep). Am mostly stressing about the fact that new job have gone v quiet! The last I heard, they were going to get in touch with me 'nearer the time' to discuss my first day. That's supposed to be 1st june - why have they gone quiet???! I know the obvious answer is to contact them but I don't want to look needy!0 -
Morning tea! Can you think of a random question to ask them? I would think of something small that you need to contact them about and then email them to remind them that you are there. Not that I think that they have forgotten at all, they're probably just waiting until the week before. That doesn't help you while waiting though!
Thank you for the plant advice, Stoodles! I shall leave the little ones on for as long as possible. The flower has become brown and brittle and the main plant is no longer growing but it's children are, I wasn't expecting babies after only 6 months! They are growing little leaves and cups now at their bases, these things grow like weeds. Every day they are bigger which is a small miracle because WaSp won't touch them due to the fact he kills plants by looking at them so I am in charge of them!Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

Katy, please can I reassure you about the Midwife/Health Visitor? They don't stay long, they just need to check that your health and baby's health are ok. Also, it's a brilliant opportunity to ask little questions that aren't big enough to contact a doctor etc. about, and you're bound to have some of those! You know, little things like, is this bath temperature right for baby?, is that little spot the start of nappy rash?, is this amount of cradle cap normal?, etc. etc. If baby is a constant crier, (as my first was!), then reassurance that you're doing everything correctly and there's nothing wrong with baby is invaluable!
Please don't feel you have to springclean the house before she arrives! To be honest, they expect you to still be in your nightie after lunch, and for the house to be strewn with baby stuff! I would think they'd be far more worried to see an immaculate house and you sitting there serenely with full makeup on! (Unless you have a cook, housemaid and nanny, of course!)
I remember my first visit. In my nightie, feeding baby, feeling totally disorientated, the doorbell rang. I explained through the door, without opening it, that I wasn't dressed, that I was feeding, could she come back another time! She explained, through the door, that she was there for me and baby, that all her patients were in their nighties and feeding and that's why she was here! So I let her in, of course, and afterwards I did feel a bit silly! It was just that it was all so strange!
But it was so reassuring to know that I was doing everything right, that baby crying all the time was just baby, and not anything I was doing wrong!
They don't stay that long, really, so please, please don't worry about it.......think of her as a very knowledgeable friend! And someone in the know that you can ask all those silly little questions that will come up!
In these days of no doctor's visits, etc, believe me, it is fantastic to have someone come to the house!(I just lurve spiders!)

Don't worry about the HV and midwife (the MW visits for the first couple of weeks then it switches to HV) Katy, they only come to check on you (nothing scary, just to see you're healing well after birth) and the baby, not to judge your housekeeping! Mine told me that the dishes can wait and not to worry about anything other than looking after myself and DS. Unfortunately one visit co-incided with the hit of the baby blues (I sat and sobbed all the way through it!) so she got worried about me and kept visiting for an extra week to make sure my mood improved but it was nice to know I had that support if I needed it.
We still giggle about one HV visit when DS was a few weeks old we'd made sure that everything was tidy and clean, DS was napping in the moses basket and we were treating ourselves with Giant Buttons which DH kept throwing over to me from his chair. Didn't realise that some had landed in the basket with DS so when HV picked him up there was a big wad of half-melted chocolate matted in his mullet! :rotfl: If you don't want HV/MW in your house, you can go to a drop-in clinic instead, you just might not feel up to that in the first week or so. It might also be an idea to call the MW team and explain your anxiety, maybe you could organise to meet your assigned MW & HV at a clinic in the next week or 2 so you at least feel like you 'know' them a little before they come round.
Exciting stuff about finishing work in 2 days Tea! I would definitely contact the new job, give them a call to confirm start time and who to ask for in reception? Don't worry too much about the work you're leaving behind, it'll still be there when you're gone and the world won't end! Saying this from experience!
I like your Hello Kitty collection MU but I do wonder if you and Swain are enabling each other! :rotfl: If/when you move in together you may have to get extra bedrooms for the cuddlies! That said, I collect Barbies and my dream is to have a spare room to turn into my Barbie and craft room!I'm a total weirdo and sleep with a big stuffed polar bear that I've had for years. God bless DH for just going with it and not throwing him out because I'm too old to sleep with a cuddly toy!

Hugs melly - sometimes it's just not the right time. Does sound like the right decision for you, you definitely have enough on your plate! Hope you and OH (and your lovely animals) are doing ok x.0

Hugs melly. I think you are making the right decision for you at the moment. You need to let your body rest a bit now and 12 hour shifts don't really allow that.

It would be fantastic on the cv (company do the civils HSE for JLR)
There is work for 5 years, so if I like and they like scope to up the role. Earning potential is huge.
Problem is OH can't be left for 12 hour shifts (of which there would be many).0 -
On my way to see shelters solicitors now.0
