Is there a technique to silent farting? I come from a windy family, and I've never managed anything more acceptable than holding on till I get to the loo Even then, it doesn't seem to be the done thing thing to be audible.
I had terrible farts yesterday :o I'm blaming the beans i ate! Thankfully Swain wasn't bothered by it..i on the other hand was a bit mortified as i let one rip that could have killed a herd of wilderbeast :o

I've been wrapping Swain;s birthday presents today. I of course got Hello Kitty wrapping paper :rotfl: And he;s obsessed with pigs, so i found a birthday care with a piggy one :D

Such a difficult situation WaS. If it's for 3 days, is it possible to go, but not go to the actual party itself, but instead just have a meal for just you, WaSp, Milliefleur and her sister on another day? That way you're there celebrating her birthday, but also having a little break away too.

    I:D
This sounds like an excellent compromise!
Is the disco by any chance being held in the hotel you will be staying in? If so, you could be in your room, but if you feel up to dipping your toe into it, then retreating if it's too much, it would be very easy to do.
Even if you weren't to go to the disco at all, being in the same hotel, you'd still feel a part of it, and Milliefleur could pop up to your room to say hello, etc. while the disco's on.

It's out of the question for you to be alone for three days, you know it is, so please don't even consider that!

Anyway, between now and November, 6 months away, with all these outings building your 'strength' up, who knows what you'll be capable of! Look how far you've come in the last 6 months!

Indeed. In fact (and I hope this isn't a trigger) I even wondered whether you could put in a VERY low key appearance at the party - maybe meeting Milliefleur in the kitchen or other quiet area for half an hour, then leaving. Ask Milliefleur if she can design you something to wear (can you sew?) - because I think you are overdue a kaftan type thing with a hood (I'm thinking Jedi!)

I really don't think sitting in a quiet corner with M for the whole party would work, by the way, as she will be under constant barrage at the party from people wanting to say hello! But if you were an 'ordinary' party guest you'd be entitled to your few minutes with her, as everyone else is, so could you restrict your attendance to just this time?

If you break the thing down into single problems, I honestly think you have already done things which match most of them.

A long car journey - you have done this.
Keeping BIL away from you - simply non-negotiable. Whatever happens, he travels separately and (if you DO get to the party) you visit the party at a time and bit of the party he isn't at!
Visiting the party - you might be able to visit for a very short time in a very covering-up but elegant garment.
Seeing MIL - even if you can't face the party, you could go for a meal as suggested above.
The fact it's 3 days - once you overcome the journey, WaSP will only be a short distance away at any time.

    Anything I've forgotten? xxxx

I am knackered. And irritable. Gitdog is playing silly sods and woke me up at 1.30 and 4.30. With the added bonus of a phonecall from an ex colleague at 6.15.
Who in their right minds phones that early?

I'm with you elsien. There was an 'incident' (let's draw a veil over that) with P cat last night which ended in me having a shower, the washing machine on for the clothes I'd been wearing and him doing his best 'wasn't me' face . Good job I love him!

Am also irritable - but this is nothing new! Have got to attempt to explain my entire job to a temp who's never worked in an office in three days.

Roll on 22nd may - am literally counting the days now.

You should have one of those ticker countdowns in your signature tea! :p Not long to go now! Good luck, hope she/he is a bright one!

Aww poor you and P cat! I can sort of relate, as we had a cat related incident ourselves the other day. Long story short, he went to the vets, he has this fearsome reputation, the vets and staff are all scared of him (I kid you not!), let's just say that they know him well down there and he lived up to his reputation! They didn't even examine him for the thing I'd taken him down for! they had to take him upstairs so so some else could hold him down. The poor thing must have been terrified and poo'd himself. They said that he'd just broken wind....yeah right! If only!

I am also tired. DH and I were having err couple time and I think he may have broken a rib. So even though it probably wasn't me (the position means I had limited abilities to do this) I was awake all night feeling guilty and worrying that if I moved, I'd hurt him more.

This and another incident yesterday, makes me feel like I'm far too fat and useless to be in society.

I noticed. I swear he'd have a swagger in his step if his ribs didn't hurt :rotfl:

    Question about thread etiquette.

I've been back this morning and edited my post about Milliefleur's party, trying to clarify a few things. I don't think I've changed anything major.

However, it occurs to me that a few kind people have already 'thanked' this post. There's a danger, of course, that they might not have thanked the amended post because I might (unintentionally, I promise, but I suppose a troll might do it intentionally) have changed the meaning by editing.

So is it OK to edit thanked posts? What do people think?
