We just bought a new microwave today. This one is excellent (trust me, Mr JM really knows about stuff like this!) It's quite big, apparently, but that shouldn't be a disadvantage unless you are very pushed for space.

This is great if you are prioritising quality. If you are prioritising cost (which I also sympathise with! - buy cheap buy often can be really good for some household stuff) I would look at Asda, Tesco, Argos, Sainsbury's to see if anyone has any offers.

Hello oldestgnome! I love the photo's! Aw, a Humboldt penguin was the one I cuddled, they feel furry rather than feathery because their feathers are so thick. They have quite a large layer of fat so are exceptionally cuddly!

I stayed awake all of last night following the election online so slept all day, now I seem to be nocturnal. Oops.

Time to tell you all of my surprise! A wonderful friend of Richard's owns a property by the seaside and has offered for us to stay there for a week at the end of the month! We are going on holiday! I am so ridiculously excited, we haven't had a holiday for many years and would never normally be able to afford one, I am beyond grateful to this friend, it is such a wonderful gesture!

Because it is a flat I can hide away when I need to and can choose to sneak out when it is quiet but I do hope to be able to go out for the odd hour here and there in the day time! If not there are going to be a lot of midnight picnics on the beach! This is why I have been practising short trips out without a blanket to hide under. I can't wait, this has made my year!

Of course, there will be photo's and daily updates. We leave on the 28th May which isn't long at all!

WaS that is amazing and exciting news. I'm so pleased for you. I love watching the sea and hearing the rhythm of the waves.

Oh! Waves! of course. Brain must be on slow from election lack of sleep.

Pyxis - I completely agree with you about needing more leadership quality people in parliament. I was struck yesterday by the contrast between some of the past politicians brought in to comment and the current lot. Shirley Williams in particular impressed me.

Wouldn't it be lovely to have intelligent people with genuine views and life experience?
