Hahahahaha! She was fascinated with my hair. Whenever the wind blew it in her direction she would try to catch it and watched it constantly. She would have ran off with it if she could!
It was too windy to fly her, the trainer said she would be like a paper bag in the wind if we had tried so I got to walk her for a whole hour. She wasn't at all phased by the trainer bringing other birds close to me and she could have flown away at any time. They have had that happen and then had to go find her again but fortunately all of the birds have a microchipped ring around their leg so they can track them down easily. They also don't fly far from home because they know that is where they get food several times a day without doing any work for it. Jilly was happy to just sit and watch yesterday though, and play catch the ringlets!
WaSp also got to hold her for a few minutes and she stared at his beard! WaSp thinks she might have thought that there were a couple of dormice living in it!Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

The Harris Hawk was amazing when she flew! She was just like a cat playing catch the mouse and so fast! The trainer gave up from tiredness before she did. They often misplace birds because they fly them all daily and just let them go where they wish, sometimes they come back and other times they disappear from sight so have to be tracked. Then the trainers go after them armed with food and stand there waving it in the air until they choose to come down for it. They have never lost one though because they like where they live.
I also saw a kite fly who loved the wind! He just hovered above our heads and let the wind support him, they like it to be as windy as possible because they don't have to work to fly.
I want to go back just to see Jilly again, I completely fell in love with her! I also learnt that kestrel's not only see the same colours as us, they see more. They can pick out shades in colours that we can't. They also have better eyesight than we do and can identify people and things from the tops of trees and cliffs easily. They are also perfect for sanctuaries because in the wild they sit still for 99% of the time. They conserve energy and only move when they have to for food, to breed or defend themselves, they never fly just for the sake of it. Hence Jilly was quite happy to just sit on me and as the trainer said let me do the walking for her while she looked around!Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

What a day, counseling session this morning and got caught in the rain on the way home
Then the police knocking on doors because a neighbour did not lock their car the other night and someone tried to help themselves to their stereo!!
And just been stood at my living room window while someone let there dog run across the front garden (its only grass) on a lead and have a poo. He did clean it up but why did he think it was ok to let the dog on there in the 1st place  This is a bloke who must be retired !!!
Thought I better not knock on the window might give him a heart attack :rotfl:
Hoovered and tided the living room up. Not sure I can face the kitchen just yet:(
Might have to stop cooking proper food so not washing up to do :rotfl:
