Will be thinking of you both on 17th GG. I'm sure it will be emotional, for both of you, but hopefully you can share some good memories and be a support for each other x.

    Thanks guys! :)

Typical, it's starting bucketing down now when I'm going out!

All this talk of baking lately has got me wanting to do some. I think I'll try to make some bread later!

I shan't do anything as rash as baking, but I have to make something with diced veal today. It needs to be simple and something I can do in stages. Any thoughts?

I also need to get dressed - yesterday was a down day, but I can't have another.

That's why I stopped baking. DH ate most of it and he's put on a lot of weight in these last few years (not due to my baking, as I didn't do it that often, but still!) and making lemon drizzle cakes and gingerbread wasn't exactly helping!

Curry? If the veal is cooked, chuck some curry sauce on to it and reheat as needed.

The old style board peeps will give you some other good ideas too, I'm sure. :)

I want a kestral! Right now, someone get me one, please!

    Good morning all!

Yesterday was wonderful and I fell in love with a little Kestral called Jilly. I put on a glove and she was placed on it then I was taken on a tour to see the other birds, with Jilly just happily sitting there on my arm for an hour! She flapped her wings sometimes but didn't attempt to fly off at all and she was fascinated with my hair which due to rain and then high winds turned into frizzy ringlets. She occasionally tried to catch one as it blew past her beak! Kestrals are heading towards being endangered here due to farmers cutting down hedgerows to gain more land which is so sad, I adore them now.

I met eagles, hawks, falcons, buzzards and vultures. Plus a Nothern Raven which are as intelligent as dogs! He had mirrors and balls to play with and had learnt to ring a bell to ask for dinner! We saw a display of a Harris Hawk playing catch a rubber mouse on a string which she did very well everytime they played it!

It rained when we first got there then was very strong wind and bright sunshine, guess who didn't think about protection and is now thoroughly sunburned? It was worth it though and I will never look at kestrals in the same way again. It was extremely hard not to hug or stroke Jilly but the trainer told me on no account to try it. She was happy to sit on me but any attempt to touch her would have resulted in a quick trip to hospital. She really was the sweetest little girl though, only 11 months old!

Oh, and no blanket the whole time! Granted due to bad weather and the fact the handling was an hour before they opened there was hardly anyone there but I am still proud!
