I baked a cake!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Used the recipe posted earlier in the thread and added some banana, grated marrow, chia seeds, some flaxseed/cocoa seeds and a bit of chocolate and after some nervous is this ever going to rise waiting, just had a look at it and it looks fine.
Going to leave it to cool and have a bit of it tomorrow and give the rest to my mum as I cant really have cake until bootcamp is done
The first cake from scratch I have ever made in my entire adult life and that is the truth.
Wow! Sounds wonderful! I hope there will be picturesEx board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).0 -

Well done on baking a cake Pauline! I can't believe you've never made one before! Hope it turns out nice.
I used to do loads of baking but haven't for ages.
Big hugs Calley. Sounds like you've really been through it lately.0 -
I don't have photo bucket and that's the only way you can post pics on here I think?
Or I'd have been boring everyone with pics of my ginger toms ages ago.
If you Google marrow cake there's a few variations. I got some 9p marrows this week and I already made marrow soup, was excellent. Really lovely considering the few ingredients.
Anyway, thanks for the cake help, really honestly thought I would never be able to bake a cake, no idea why, just that everyone I know who bakes cakes bakes really amazing creations that I could never do.
But if you can bake something, that something is a start.
I do know people who can make amazing cakes, I went on a night out once where a girl who had her own cake making business brought some cupcakes along, kind of cakes that you want to stare at for an hour before you eat them.0 -

That would be because I'm not massively sweet toothed.
And sheer terror. I'm a very good cook, but baking just terrified me. Probably because if you've spent your life not doing it, you don't know where to start.
I make a good pot of soup though. Am as obsessed with soup as I am with dave from Depeche mode..that would be a lot.0 -
Just found a new freeview channel showing season 5 of The Walking Dead. Is it weird that zombies make me a happy person?
Nope. Nothing weird about that. Zombies make me happy too! In fact I'm currently listening to the audiobook 'The Girl With All The Gifts'
Listened to all The walking dead books, and watched the series of course :staradmin: June NSD's 2/19:staradmin: Sealed Pot #460 :staradmin: £/day £185 saved :staradmin: W.S.C 2015 #45 :staradmin: F.P. 2/24 months :staradmin:0 -
Mellymoo, ditto what everyone else has said with regard to looking after yourself. You need to make yourself a priority, because you may become unwell yourself if you don't start thinking about your own health and wellbeing.:staradmin: June NSD's 2/19:staradmin: Sealed Pot #460 :staradmin: £/day £185 saved :staradmin: W.S.C 2015 #45 :staradmin: F.P. 2/24 months :staradmin:0

I'm not massively sweet toothed either. I used to make them for other people mainly, especially DHs work when they did charity days.
I think if you measure the ingredients out accurately, you can't go far wrong.
Everytime I hear about marrows I think of Deirde Barlow and her stuffed marrows!0 -

If you want to make cupcakes, it's dead simple. It's the SAME RECIPE!!! - just cooked for less time. (Just keep looking and testing, I would estimate between 12-2 mins cooking time. And obviously you can change the recipe by putting e.g. cocoa, strawberries, coffee in for different cakes. A butter icing is just butter and icing sugar mixed together, with whatever flavouring you feel like, or none.)
Get yourself down to the £1 shop - they have loads of stuff - silicon cupcake cases, metal cupcake tins, but more importantly really fun glitter and all sorts of sprinkles and stuff for the top of cupcakesWaS will tell you, cos I put some cupcake stuff into her Christmas hamper (but they still had some left very recently.)
Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).0
