pauline, that is an excellent point!
She's back in work at the end of May and new company would be looking for me start close to beginning of June (contracts, references etc permitting) so I may only have to put up with her for a week or so.
Need to check hours and stuff - now I've started filling my evenings with brownies, flute lessons and the like I want to make sure I can carry on with those commitments. The HR person said they were pretty flexible and I like starting early so hopefully we can negotiate something there.0 -
Have been reading the last few pages to get a bit of a feel for the thread, just want to say congrats to Tea Lover on the job offer.
I found and took the personality test a few pages back and I'll give you all the heads-up that I am an INFP-(t), not sure I understand the 't') bit, but anyhow, I'm a mediator apparantly. Sounds about right to me :staradmin: June NSD's 2/19:staradmin: Sealed Pot #460 :staradmin: £/day £185 saved :staradmin: W.S.C 2015 #45 :staradmin: F.P. 2/24 months :staradmin:0 -
Yay tea!! :j Nerves and fears are all perfectly normal, but FOH is right, what have you got to lose?
Calley, that what my DH calls them too! It's strange, because he used to hate anything with dried fruit in, but now he loves them.
If you lived closer Pauline, you could have had the [STRIKE]dust[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]collector[/STRIKE] rebounder. It's a wonder no one has tripped over it yet!0 -
wooooooo TEA! Another great achievement to add to the many in this thread!
Remember that saying that a stranger is just a friend you haven't met yet? Well, the same is true of work colleagues too, IYSWIM
(And the perfect job is probably the one you haven't started yet, which you mould to fit you perfectly!)
You are really flying! Into a new life where you have a shiny new job and a chance to re-evaluate EVERYTHING. And it does seem that FOH will go forward as a friend, so you have a chance to get out of the relationship, look at it from a distance, and then think where you want it to go next. (So nooooo need to be sad)

It's always daunting starting a new job. I left a job 15 years ago that I loved but I was getting to the stage where I could have done it standing on my head and I've had many ups and downs in the workplace since then, but if I hadn't left, there's no way I'd be doing what I'm doing now.
If you have a good gut feeling about this new company there's no reason not to take it. If you feel you'll be treated well.
It's always a bit tough being offered a job you thought you weren't going to get.
I think if you know it's time to go and the new company are good employers, you'll make the best decision for yourself.0 -
Congratulations Tea, I'm glad you have good news.0

You going to ask Mrs farty to your leaving do?
I Don't reach the kind of classes where people fart a lot, no yoga. But one girl did fart during one of my classes and her friend ribbed her so much she never came back.
Seriously. Working with someone who lets off Brussels smelling farts all day every day, I couldn't do it.0 -

It's not been easy! I was so excited when she said she was having three months off I could have cried lol.
Am still in shock about the offer. Scared - so very, very scared, but a teeny bit excited too. But mostly just scared:rotfl:.
As I've said (repeatedly - sorry!) - my plan for this year was pretty much to change everything. There was no way I could face the thought of another Christmas feeling so unhappy with every aspect of my life. I have to keep telling myself that this is progress when the fear seems overwhelming - so many things are changing so much, and all at once. In the space of a couple of weeks FOH will move out and I'll change jobs - that is an epic level of terror of the unknown.0 -
But it's an unknown you'll deal with. You said before you've lived on your own and you'll do it again and cope.
Adjusting to change is terrifying. But it can be a good terrifying once the initial shock is over.
If you really can't bear to stay in your present job it's a no brainer. As for your Oh. I've seen so many lovely people stay in relationships that weren't working. And most of those relationships broke down in the end anyway.
A new future, that's what you need to concentrate on.0 -
