Hmmm - there is a line in the write up that makes me wonder....
' ‘Although it’s really messy when I’m photographing him, he obeys me.'
Is it just me, or does that not sound so much like Gitdog?Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).0 -
Gitdog says stop casting nasturtiums. (Or something like that - English is his second language, after all.)
Right. Off to bed. If I reappear tonight, don't talk to me.All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Code, you've done nothing wrong. You did what you felt you needed to at the time, and the rescue centre had no business making you feel bad like that, and like has been said, at least you did the right thing and didn't just dump the cat somewhere...unlike DH's brother (2 of them) I can never for give him for that, and I hate it when he fusses over our cat.
When we got out current cat, we got him from a rescue centre and he wasn't originally the cat we went for....he conned us! He jumped into my arms and stayed there until we said we'd take him! :rotfl: The cat we went for originally was a ginger tom, like our Charlie cat who'd just passed on. We hadn't went for two cats but ended up with two, although that didn't last long as the ginger tom was too much like Charlie and it upset me too much and we ended up taking him back that night. The rescue centre woman wasn't too pleased with us either and just went on about how we'd made her late for her dog obedience class.
They ought to be grateful that people are honest if they can't keep them for whatever reason and that they bring them back to the safety of the rescue centre.
From what I've read, it's obvious that dumbass dog loves you! He's always giving you cuddles! :hug:0 -
Yes, I am really really shocked at that rescue centre. For two reasons.
1. (Most important) not giving you care instructions or being there for support.
2. (Also v important) making you feel like !!!! when you took the cat back. I wonder how many other people might read a story like this and be discouraged from doing the right thing, just because THIS centre was so bad. (Please folks, never abandon an animal, always take them to a rehoming centre if you can't cope!)Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).0 -
code,
I agree with everyone else that you made a brave and wise decision.
I am glad that you posted and I hope that you will feel better about the situation now.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0 -
Code don't feel bad. Mr Cat may end up being rehomed yet as it's very dependant on whether the porky princess will allow sharing. I may love him (and I do he reminds me of my Jaspa cat) but Porky has to come first.
Should I be worried that the throat has spread to my jaw? I have a shed load of antibiotics?0 -

Code - that is entirely the fault of the first rehoming centre. It was totally irresponsible of them to not talk it all through with you. Please don't feel guilty about it.
For anyone reading, a local vet can give excellent advice for rehoming animals. And if you know one personally, its probably free advice if you give them a piece of cake! Unless it takes up an appointment slot ofc.
Melly - Mr T cat is gorgeous and looks like he has claimed you!
Does anyone have any advice for the itching caused by opoid painkillers? My legs are driving me demented and im struggling to not rip at the skin. Already on anti histamines for hayfever (yay), so maybe any creams that are good for soothing it?:AStarting again on my own this time!! - Defective flylady! :A0 -
To relieve itching, place a cool washcloth or some ice over the area that itches, rather than scratching.
