    Happy Easter all! :) Love the gifs Pyxis! We haven't got any eggs left :( My Mam bought us two each, we bought each other one....but (and this is my excuse!) we got them too early and ate them all :o :EasterBun

    We don't do Easter eggs here, just have fresh eggs, like normal, but enjoy them and recognise the joy of laying hens.

    We didn't eat out Christmas cake either :o so I thought about recycling it as simnel cake but just not feeling sweet toothed enough.

    I just had hot cross buns for breakfast. Mmmmmm.

    littlewing has chopped up paper to make snow and is singing Frozen songs while making it snow. She will have to clear it up before daddy gets home, but she is having a wonderful time.

    Any Easter trips planned, WaS? Are you seeing millefleur at any point?

    I don't think I've ever tried simple cake? Tbh I'm not really a cake/chocolate kind of person, much more savoury....says she who scoffed down Easter eggs! :rotfl:

    Simmel cake is great if you like marzipan, as it has a layer in the middle and marzipan balls on top!

    I quite like it. Haven't made it for years, though!

    Lots of stories about Simnel Cake - this is my favourite:
    the name came from a sister (Nell) and brother (Simon) who wanted to make a cake for their mother. One wanted to bake the cake, the other to boil it. They decided to do both and bring them together in one which became The Simnel Cake
    Deal with things as they are, not as they should be.
