Good morning Team WaS. I am so tired today - the kind of tired where I just want to sleep all day. Roll on Friday so I can spend the day napping.

Melly - I've met an elephant and seen a duck billed platypus or two. They're weird looking things but so cute. Years ago, me and my friends kept talking about going to Australia. Time kept ticking on and they always had excuses as to why they couldn''t and eventually, I realised they would always make these excuses. So I went by myself and had a fabulous time and that's where I saw them. I also got to hold a koala.

You CAN do it for five minutes a day, but should you be trying? I worry about you Sue. We share the ability to have a blind spot and lack of wisdom over limits and ability.

Probably not but I feel the need to do something, anything to get some exercise and help with the weight loss.

My pain is worse now despite losing almost 2 stone since middle of Jan, people keep saying "Oh, I bet it's nice being able to move around more since you have lost weight" or "Bet you've noticed the difference in pain not having to carry around that extra weight" but the reality is that yes I may have lost a bit of weight but instead of it making things better with my joints, it has actually (and always does hence the weight gain in the first place), made things ten times worse....I dread to think of what my pain levels will be when I reach goal.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

code - that reminds me of a v funny photo my friend has. She went to Australia a few years ago. They went to hold koalas - her friend has a lovely photo of her cuddling a v cute little koala. They changed animals after that and my friend has a photo where she looks terrified and like she's about to be eaten by the biggest koala I've ever seen.

Still makes me laugh just thinking about it :D

Is there exercise or therapy recommended for your physical condition? Something non weight bearing maybe??? I don't know, I don't pretend to understand the full impact or limitation although I've read and understood what you've said. Sometimes even reading links on the condition doesn't really 'explain', I get that fully too. :)

None of the physios around here dare touch me (or eldest son) for fear of making things worse, same for local gyms. The words dislocate easily and disc problems makes them run for the hills, unfortunately, in this little backwater of the country, we are lucky if we can find even a doctor who understands just a tiny bit of our condition (plus my added ones) and because their understanding is so bad, they don't know that there are things which exist in a few centres around the country.

I annoyed a doctor once by taking in stuff I printed off the internet about our condition...he called it quack science and worry mongering despite it being the official line on how to deal with it! Saying that, James temp registered with a different surgery on his stay here this time and he managed to find a doctor who although didn't have full knowledge of the condition, at least knew more than any other doctor we had seen locally over the years (and there have been several, think we went through every doctor at every surgery at one point), so there is hope!

  • That sounds really painful Sue, do take it easy. you have a lot on your plate and you need to make sure that you don't overdo it. I have very gentle physio 4 times a week but otherwise it's too painful to even try stretches. I do know how it feels to be in pain and you have so much to juggle, too.

Hang in there HBS, you can almost relax!

I decided to add some intervals into my normal 30 minute walk to work this morning. Oh my word, I'm exhausted now! When I got in, I was bright red and sweaty. I do need to get in shape. Not only are there hot springs in my holiday spot, requiring a public swimsuit appearance, I booked extra legroom seats on the flight and have found out they are narrower than usual.

Sue, some doctors are really weird about google, which is strange as I've seen more than one use the internet to check side effects or find information about a condition or whatever.
