I am hoping Easter Eggs are still on offer so DH can get them sorted for me.

Ok, so I know I've checked out for a while, but recently we have had some really stressful news.

    Wanna know what's weird?

I think its making me better.

What on earth does that mean? I mean better in all ways. Physically its not that weird I suppose, I already know I'm hormone sensitive, so a surge in stress hormones is likely to impact. I've been through several days with no or almost no extra sleep, yet sleeping well, and happily at night. I got more done last weekend than in the last month. Yesterday I moved furniture alone. From some one who has been able to vacuum regularly that shows increase in strength, and tomorrow morning I plan to vacuum the whole down stairs of my house. I know as the hormones reach equilibrium this might well recede, but its a weird bonus, huh.

Emotionally, I'm not overly stressed. Its just like...ok, well, here is life's next challenge, let's get at it, thank god its not health this time..... Its almost as if I'm...invigorated by it, which seems heinous, really unlikable. Fir says I've even been laughing in my sleep. Seems pretty callous.

Makes me feel like a bit of a monster, that stress or negativity might actually be really, really good for me.

LIR, I think it's often the case. My mum had a breakdown in 2008. She was suicidal, and only avoided hospital as her complex physical needs were better suited to being looked after at home. It was pretty tough going for all involved (especially her of course). About 6 months later my Nan (her mum) passed away. We were all really worried about the effect this would have on her recovery but in some ways she seemed to cope better. It was sort of as if a 'real' crisis (for want of a better way to word that) was easier to deal with.

You are absolutely not a monster!

You're not a monster LIR. I think sometimes some stressful news gives you something to deal with. I suspect you're experiencing an adrenaline rush and of course that's going to make you feel better.

Very true code. I think it's similar to how people often cope well with organising funerals and the associated practicalities. Maybe our brains just like having specific jobs to focus on, even if they're not particularly pleasant tasks in themselves.

WaS - hope that was ok to say and didn't need penguin-ing.

That was fine tea, and you are right!

LIR, you aren't a monster at all, or if you are then I am. I have said before that I go into crisis mode when something bad happens. As you say there is a big adrenaline rush and chemical change and suddenly I can do things I normally couldn't. I can't keep it up for long but it does mean that I am far more capable and energetic for a while. Due to the chemical change I actually feel a bit happier and more confident as well.

Builders up ladders, doing things to window frames. As per usual. I hate this...

My image of your house has changed somewhat over the last week or so WaS. I now imagine you lounging around some 100-windowed mansion :D

Are any of the builders hot WaS?

Tea, I'm going to join you on MFP starting Monday. I didn't like how I felt on holiday. I didn't even want DH to take photos of me.

Despite my tubbiness, I am still quite fit. We did a huge amount of walking over our trip - in 3 days we walked 28 miles - we like to walk places because we usually get lost and discover some lovely little side streets we might not have seen otherwise.

  • The house looks quite amusing really. This is a run down area and in the middle of it is our bright white, newly painted house. We have a polished front door, a new roof, a newly laid path and it looks completely different to everything around it. It sticks out like a sore thumb! They are going to start planting bushes in a border soon, we even have new dustbins!

One builder is quite hot, he is allowed to be around as much as possible as is my draft proofing guy that I adopted.

MFP works well for me code. I do love a good list lol, and that's all it is really.

I also like the accountability aspect of having a friend list on there. Although all but one of my MFP friends are virtual ones I've never met and are never likely to. I still like the fact that someone, somewhere can see my results. But obviously that aspect of it won't appeal to everyone.

Was planning on the gym after work today but endo is trying to kill me. Have spent most of the day with a sneaky hot water bottle under the desk. Not sure if I can face the exercise, even though I know I'd more than likely feel better for it.
