I have just done something potentially silly.

A while ago I was involved with sorting out H&S policy etc. for a local organisation I'm part of. They asked me to take on H&S officer role but I declined at the time for various reasons. They've been driving me mad with emails over the past few weeks as the leadership team don't have a clue about EHS and refuse to accept that they even need a policy, let alone anything useful like risk assessments. After yet another email going round in circles have just said that I'd consider taking on the role - to shut them up if nothing else!

Not at all sure that was a good idea .

HBS, I see loads of positive s in your post. You have decided to challenge your brain flu and fight to overcome it! If the doctor isn't nice (unlikely) they are an idiot. Good luck! Xxxx

Big hugs, HBS. Please do let us know how you get on. You aren;t weak, you are so strong for being brave enough to tackle this.

Love the pony, MU! And good luck on the first date!

Oooh, tea well done (If you want to do it)! I was H&S officer when I worked. The highlight of my month was setting off the fire alarm at the most inconvenient time ever and standing there giggling with a stopwatch while everyone panicked!

It's official! The window fitter is here! He is getting his stuff together and about to start! I am anxious but frankly after all of this waiting I am more relieved than anything. This may change when the windows start coming out.

They are here and measuring the windows, all 3 at once with a man at each one. I was going to hide in the bathroom but one needed to use it! So I am sat on the sofa under a blanket determinedly staring at the laptop! One told me to stay wrapped up under a blanket because it will be cold when the windows come out. Of course! That's why I am under a blanket! Not for any other reason at all...

The bedroom window is out! These men are super-speedy (expect regular updates).

Living room and kitchen windows out! They move at the speed of light.

New window frames going in! but not the glass yet.

    Update-it's freezing!

Oooh, pretty frames! The glass is going in now. I am still staring determinedly at the laptop screen.

Not a good idea at all! 20 years of volunteering for stuff "just so it would get done" have taught me that :o

Used the excuse of moving house a few years ago to get myself off most of the committees I was on and out of the organising teams for several events I was involved in. I'm still on the club committee once a month, but nothing else. I used to refuse certain event committee meeting dates as it would mean meetings on consecutive evenings, which left me exhausted due to not getting enough "alone time" to recharge my internal batteries.

I know LIR has already seen these but more drawings from youngest son. He is complex autistic and used drawings to 'speak' when he was non verbal to say if something was worrying or scaring him (or just to express joy). Once he started talking (he was non verbal until almost 6 - he just screamed all day before that), art was a way to relax for him until something happened in his first year of high school and then he stopped completely (apart from maps).

In the last few weeks he has started again and although still a little rusty, I am a proud mum, it shows he is now feeling much more comfortable with his surroundings and more settled in his emotions.

We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.
  • How lovely that your son is drawing again, Sue! I love his shading.

The windows are in! they still have to do something to the outside so we will see their heads pop up tomorrow but all of the inside work is complete. And breathe.

    WELL DONE WaS!!! :T

    You survived!

And the cold was the perfect blanket excuse!

I was going to post you a song, but then I remembered you can't listen to music! :(

HBS, yes, feel free to update us! Hope it goes well!

Tea, if the H&S role becomes too bad, just duck out. Or you could qualify your offer by saying that you'll get it all up and running and then someone else can take over.

single Sue lovely pics! Your son is very talented!
