You should definitely plan on a big re-decoration too Tea. Make it just as you've always wanted rather than a co-habiting compromise. :) Are you making a craft room? I'd freaking love a really girly, Pinterest-worthy craft room! :D

Good idea about writing the feelings down as they are now. Do you watch How I Met Your Mother? Ted always writes a break-up letter to himself to remind him why he shouldn't get back with women he's split up with! ;)

Funny you should say that Birdie, was talking to my mum yesterday about where a sewing machine could go :) Always fancied one. To be fair, he's never stopped me of course, but there just wasn't space before as we had to find room for SO MANY TRAINERS.

Will definitely be redecorating, funds allowing of course. My house before this one (was all mine lol) was v colourful. Will be great to move away from the magnolia again. Have so many plans of things to paint, things to move, etc. I know a lot of this is mind-displacement activity.

I'd say part mind displacement but it's got to be good to claim what was once a shared space as your own once he's gone. Even if you do it on a budget, you can paint walls, repaint furniture, move stuff around, sew new cushion covers etc. Even re-organising the kitchen cupboards could be a good thing to do! I'm actually quite excited for you for having the opportunity to do all of this! :)

  • Tea, you are doing so well! So glad everything went well at the bank! I agree with the fact that you may have to help FOH with finding a flat, not because you should but because he is so used to not doing anything that he will need a shove. I remember splitting up from my first relationship and it was hard and I cried for the future I had imagined we would have (the reality was a nightmare), but once I got my own place to live I loved it! Just decorating how I wanted gave me such a lift, like you I love colour. Here we have the dreaded magnolia walls and can't change them unfortunately but therefore the furnishings are all really bright. What an exciting new beginning for you!

Pyxis, I hope the big scary thing is gradually getting sorted for you.

    In other news-

Headache-bad. So bad in fact that I have run out of nasal spray and had to ask for an emergency bottle. Please keep everything crossed that I get it without a hitch.

Windows-still there. No sign of window fitters.

Workman-loud. Floorboards are being ripped up on the landing and in the flat below us to add damp proofing.

I will at the back of the duvet fort sucking my thumb.

    Aw. thank you, HBS!

Don't faint everyone but I just had a conversation with someone without a blanket. WaSp was out getting my nasal spray and someone rang our doorbell. Now, it could have been Wasp forgetting his keys so I braved going downstairs to answer the door. There was a young man there in a uniform who said he was here to layer the damp proofing. I stood and stared at him with a fixed grin for a few seconds, my brain just seized much to my embarrassment. Eventually, I saw he had an ID badge on his clothes so let him into the block. He thanked me for giving him access-the builder with the key has disappeared for lunch so he had no way to get in. He absolutely bounced through the door with a big grin and actually looked as if he thoroughly loved his job.

He apologised for the noise and said he will be finished by Friday and he will make sure to tidy up afterwards. Now me being me with little social filter when I panic said what came into my head which was "Thank you! You are such a nice and happy person!" He burst out laughing, thanked me and said there is no point in being miserable.

I know it is just an everyday encounter but for me who has so little contact with people I really notice when someone is kind and thoughtful. WaSp is back now and I told him to take the guy a cup of tea, Wasp may think that I have lost the plot slightly.

    I have adopted a builder...

Now I am a little less bothered by the noise because I met one of the people behind the hammering and he's all bubbly and nice!

Awww WaS, you probably made that guy's day! :D Well done for answering the door, and for speaking to him. And well done him for being such a lovely chirpy man lol.
  • Hahahaha! It made me grin actually. I am now shaky because I went to the door but not because of the builder, he was a lovely, bouncy guy! He happily accepted a cup of tea from WaSp, who pointedly told him this was from the woman he just met because he felt like an idiot taking it to him!

When I panic I tend to just blurt whatever is in my mind at the time, I bet he doesn't get complimented on his personality often in his job! Hopefully as you say, it was a nice thing in his day!

If I was that builder, I would have taken that as a real compliment :)

Well done WaS, that is absolutely awesome :) and I did giggle a little about the tea!
