Good lord, almost 12 hours without a post!

I have a complicated day today - London this morning, then a lunch meeting, then (undecided but I will probably go back home and work for a while) then evening rehearsal. So this may be the last you will hear from me for a while! Have a good day, everyone.........

    Wow, busy day JM!

WaS, don't worry about seeming strange for complimenting the builder on being happy, it would have just made him even more happy! I'm a great believer in giving out random compliments to people, whether I know them or not! :)

Very exciting stuff about the date and pre-date kissing MU! :)

Well done on taking the small steps to tackle the Big Worry Pyxis :)

Sounds like there were a few achievements for the thread yesterday - go us! :j Here's to a good day all round :).
  • I am so sorry to butt in on the good day with a maybe-penguin...

So I have a doctors' appointment this afternoon. I have finally bitten the bullet and decided to talk about how I am feeling at the moment.

It a very strange feeling - almost detached from the world. I can't seem to take joy in anything, I feel old, fat and worthless. I have been bingeing and tempted to purge again, and I wonder if I'm still holding delayed grief from losing my dad and my nan because me and mum are very much "pull socks up and crack on" people.

I hope the doc will be nice to me, and not laugh because my life is fine on paper.

All hugs gratefully received. Sorry to drop this on you all.

    (((((HBS)))))

Look, my life is fine on paper, but it doesn't stop me having the Big Worry! Brain chemistry has a mind of its own, pardon the pun!, and MH issues hit people in all walks of life and in all situations.

Think 'flu of the brain'. It's the old stigma that MH illness isn't somehow 'as valid' as physical illness, which is daft, of course, but I'm just as likely to feel guilty for feeling ghastly when'I shouldn't be'. If I had flu, I wouldn't feel guilty, so I know I shouldn't feel guilty having 'flu of the brain', but I do, of course!

You're not alone on here, and people here do realise that 'flu of the brain' is very valid! :A

  • I just feel so weak, I guess.

Thank you Pyxis, and thank you to everyone on here. OH doesn't really understand, bless him, and I can't talk to my mum because "nobody feels as bad as her" - she's a bit of a martyr!

Shall I report back when I have been to the doctors?

I would very much hope your GP would take you seriously HBS. Although, as we all know, some doctors are better than others! Please remember, if the first GP you speak to isn't great, you can speak to someone else. It would be a reflection of poor attitudes towards mental health in some parts of the medical profession, and certainly nothing personal. I hope that's come out right - struggling with word selection today! Have my fingers crossed that your GP will be one of the many, many wonderful ones who will do lots to help you xx.

Please do report back if you feel able to. Although of course we all understand if you don't feel like sharing details. Hugs and duvet fort on standby :)
