That dress ... it was white and gold on both of my monitors at work. When I got home, it came up white and gold on this monitor. I then turned on the big monitor as well which blanks the first one as Windows recalculates its desktop and window positioning then redrawing everything, and the dress reappeared as black and blue, on both monitors.

I'm absolutely certain my retinas didn't change in the three seconds the screen was blank, the screen didn't change either, the colour profile is the same, so I'm confused.

What I want to look at is if the source page is randomly sending different data, but I'm off for the weekend shortly and haven't got chance spend a load of time capturing TCP/IP packets and analyzing them!

I think it is something to do with the settings on the monitors people have different settings so see different colours

Does anyone else watch quiz shows and take against the participants based on something arbitrary like their shirt and hope they lose?

Another explanation of the dress. I have been assured by my sort-of friend at NASA who works with planet photography that this is why it happens.

Thanks to our tendency towards seeing color constancy, some people’s visual systems assume there is only one color light source (when there are actually two in the picture, indoor and outdoor. Window and artificial light). Some people will correct towards a daylight light source – the dress looks yellow/gold and white – and some will correct towards an indoors light source, so the dress looks blue and black. Those who focus between sources will see pale blue and dark gold. Others may have a changing correction.

Oops excuse the lack of U's I pasted and he's american!

(It's light blue and gold!!!!!) Amusingly, WaSp seems to have missed all of the internet controversy over this and he see's navy blue and black. On my insistence that people see different colours, he now believes that I am purposely winding him up and pretending that I see a different colour! I am going to have to send examples of people discussing it to his email or he will never believe me.

  • The dress is gold and light blue on my tablet in daylight.

I'm with you on that code. Can be anything, shirt, manner of speaking, name etc....

Internet dating is the most common way that people now meet their partners. I've internet dated when single for about 8 years and met some awesome people through it, some have become friends some long term relationships. There are lots of other people I know also doing so successfully ( it could be said more so than me as there's marriage and children involved for some.) Depending on what you are looking for will depend on what site to use, do a little research and see who is signed up locally on different sites before actually putting up a proper profile. There is always the paid versus free debate too. There is a couple of threads on here about different sites. Might also be worth thinking about dating agencies etc if you do not find internet dating is a good medium for you. Most importantly be open minded and have fun, asking a friend who you trust to look over your profile is good plus be specific about whst you like and are looking for... I have seen so many profiles that say they love travelling, eating out and a glass of wine with a dvd.... Quite frankly who doesn't?! If you know what I mean.

I still see that dress as black and gold, its been driving me nuts trying to see it as gold :rotfl:

I met my last 2 exes through internet daiting, both time messages were exchanged, and then in one case it progressed to talking on skype, the other constant texting, but the problem each time was the distance, which is why i was hesitant this time, however i did add on my profile i was looking to meet someone local. The guy i was talking to last night aded me on slype and we had a nice conversation, and we're talking on FB chat atm (he's on a limited profile setting so he can only see basic info on my profile not any of my posts). I'm off work next week so i think a date may be on the cards, i suggested bowling and arcade seeing as we both seem to be good at grabbit machines :p Hes also on a year or two younger so no massive age gap. :) I'm not expecting anything but its nice to meet new people.

  • There's a nice simple way to find out if you're compatible - ask him what colour the dress is! :D

All day, I've been looking at a white and gold dress.

Just now, I've read a Daily Mail article telling me it's royal blue and black.

It showed the 'controversial' picture in the article, and, as I scrolled down, I saw a gold and white dress.

I then looked at a better picture of the royal blue and black dress, scrolled up again to look at the white and gold dress and, yes, it's now a poorly exposed picture of a blue and black dress.

And that's all I can see. I can't see the white and gold dress anymore.

    Weird.
 Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway...
