The dating landscape has changed so much over the last 10 years and now there's no shame in internet dating. Of my friends, 1 met her husband at uni, 1 met her husband through mutual friends and the rest - internet dating.

Tea - can I ask a cheeky question? Do you sometimes think that you could meet someone new and conceive?

I mostly keep up with people througy facebook these days.

I've had online friends for many years, but they sort of fizzled out after a decade or so. I've never wanted to meet anyone that I met online (but that's just me), as I'm really sooo unsociable. Although if I was looking for a partner I wouldn't rule it out, as these days most people live their lives through the internet & if you weren't getting out much this would be ideal.

On the subject of internet phenomenon this is going viral right now.

What colour dress do you see? I see light blue and gold, WaSp see's black and medium blue. It is apparently related to how the retinas in your eyes work. Your perception can also change at different times of the day depending on lighting levels. There is no correct answer.

That dress is driving me mad! All I can see is white and gold - not a hint of blue or black at all. It's messing with my head!

code - yes, it has crossed my mind. Not as a very realistic proposition admittedly, but yeah I've thought about it. Obviously I'd have to find someone and then get past the endo and pcos lol. But a lot of the issues before were MFI so who knows? I've also thought that maybe I would consider adoption with someone else. Part of the reason I never pursued it before was because I knew our relationship wouldn't survive that sort of scrutiny, and that FOH just wouldn't be interested enough to put the required effort in.

In a lot of ways it's been liberating to get 'past' the TTC issue, if that's that right way of putting it. If I'm honest, part of the reason I stayed with FOH so long was that I didn't want to be early 30s and childless - I thought I wouldn't have time to find someone else and make it all happen. The irony of putting up with all the cr.ap and then discovering that FOH had severe MFI is not lost on me!

I've pretty much come to terms with not having children, and I feel like life has opened up. I don't have to stay in a rubbish relationship because I'm 'too old'. Maybe it's the sunshine today, maybe it was having a night to myself on Wed and loving it - but today I feel excited about the future. Now I just need to sort out the mortgage and actually get FOH to move out lol.

Oh also - I wasn't meaning that internet dating is bad in itself. Just that it seems a bit inappropriate to be considering it when I'm technically still living with someone! :rotfl:

I've seen that going round WaS, I see blue and black and thought it was a big wind up, because it's so obviously blue and black! :p

Like the others have said, I don't think there's shame in internet dating now. A lot of my friends have met their OHs through dating sites, I'd just be wary of using Tinder since it looks like it's full of people looking for a quick shag (from chatting to my friends who've used it, one even found her cousin's husband on there!!! ) I have met some fab friends from MSE and we meet every so often when life and geography allows and it's not strange at all. :)

Big hugs to you Tea and Code; you both sound like you need some 'me' time over the weekend. Nice bath, face mask, good book and a glass of wine!

Cross posted! I actually don't really think it's a bad thing to get your profile set up before FOH moves out, just gives you a little head start on the inevitable! ;)

Glad you're feeling excited about the future, I think there are good things coming your way, you deserve it! :)

Aw, thank you, that's a lovely thing to say. I wouldn't rule out meeting someone else - but if the future is me, Percy cat, a good book and some peace and quiet I will be more than happy with that too :) I really do feel like a weight's been lifted.

I saw gold and v pale blue/ white. Thought it was never going to be black, or true blue, squinted a bit, went to a different page forgot a bout it, came back here, reloaded this page, and the darn thing is blue and black. Freaky.
  • You can live with someone and feel as if you have been alone for a very long time, tea. There is nothing wrong with thinking about your future in a positive way.

(The dress is definitely light blue and gold).

Hahahahaha, LIR! It is fascinating, isn't it?
