Enormous hugs to oystercatcher! ((((())))) and to anyone else out there who is feeling too low to jump in. Thank you for posting, oyster, that must have taken a lot of .... not quite sure what the next word is, not quite courage. Determination might go somewhere towards it, because it's so easy not to do anything when you are feeling low. Hope it gives you a lift to know that team WaS is here for you. xEx board guide. Good morning all!
That article sums me up, whitewing! I have slept walked my whole life and as I have said I act out what I hallucinate during catatonic episodes. We always keep a wedge under the front door at night so that I can;t open it, so far I can open the lock but it hasn't occurred to me yet to remove the wedge which is lucky. That poor woman, my heart goes out to her.
How frustrating, elsien!
Big hugs, Oyster, I often wonder how you are. I really hope that things get easier for you soon.
The rainforest experience is all booked for Friday, 13th! Now we both have to stay virus free until then, the animals can even contract coughs because they have no immunity against western diseases so we really need to be healthy. My instructions tell me I need to eat before I go and bring water as the animals are kept in giant, heated domes if the weather is cold and it can be very hot and humid and cause fainting. No jewellery allowed, no perfume and no hand creams if I am going to touch the animals. They try to maintain the perfect ecosystem that the animals are used to so there are lots of rules. Also, no scented washing powders on clothes and no use of inhalers or medical sprays inside the domes.
We have agreed that I will arrive at 2.30pm and spend 30 minutes in the kitchen preparing the animals food, by then the park should be almost empty. The experience will last 3.30-5.30 (the park closes at 3.30pm) so there will just be keepers around and it will allow me time to sit down under a blanket inbetween animals if needed.
If the keeper says leave I have to do so immediately or I won't be allowed back. Although the animals on my list are sociable, curious and will likely climb on me they are still wild animals who haven't been tamed. I need to wait for them to interact with me and not pick any up or approach them first. My movements need to be slow especially with the primates, who the keeper will remove from climbing on me if I wish, it isn't a good idea to pull them off myself as they won't know me and could view it as aggression. If any of the animals become aggressive or distressed (which shouldn't happen but one might be having a bad day) I need to get out of there immediately for my sake as well as theirs! I should be fine, though. If the agouti gets scared he will run and hide and the toucans will back away. It is only the monkeys who might lash out but really they should just climb on me and groom my hair!
If Cinnamon the sloth is at ground level they will make her a priority for me to see. If she is at the top of a tree they actually have no way to get her down, hence the training she is having to come when called. But they said she is own sloth and never pressured so it is up to her if she wants to interact. They will attempt to call her but whether she comes or not is dependant on how lazy she feels on the day. Contrary to what people (including me) believe she can move quite fast when she wants to so could reach the ground in under a minute, it is just a question of if she actually wants to. I do have to keep a distance from her if she does choose to say hello because as well as the algae in her skin being a problem she can lash out quite quickly with her claws and seriously hurt people if she feels that she is threatened.Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

I'm still around but it's been very busy just recently, thankfully now all the uni interview/auditions are finished with and I can recoup some energy (and pennies!)
Apart from being completely shattered and my joints screaming at me, everything is fine here.We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
All of a sudden my diary is filling up.
Plumber today, dentist, eyebrow threading and hairdresser tomorrow, play tomorrow night, travel to London Saturday, going to a play Sunday, travelling back Monday for work Monday and Tuesday night and another residents meeting on Thursday night.
My life is suddenly a hectic whirl!
:hello: Hello oystercatcher, jump in when you feel up to it. Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway... :huh:0 -
Good to hear from you, Sue! Now you can relax for a while.
You are so busy, Ginger! You are making me tired! Do include a bit of relaxation for yourself in there!Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

I know, it's feast or famine.
There'll be plenty of down time Wednesday, most of Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
March will be a complete basket case.
I'm covering annual leave for the other two night shifters as well as doing my own shifts.
Life gets lived in between work shifts. Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway... :huh:0 -
Anyone seen the ads for the upcoming channel 4 programme about living with bipolar? I find some of their documentaries sensitive and informative, and others are more sensationalist. Will be interesting to see which way this one goes.
Thanks for all the info about hostels peepsGonna look into it tonight, i think some had private rooms that are half the price of a hotel so might be an option.

Does anyone else think Cinnamon is a great name for a sloth?
I am watching the great british sewing bee, whilst contemplating the dog bed cover that has been pinned ready to sew, and sitting in the dining room looking at me since about last June. It was on the list of jobs I was going to get done when I lost my job. Ah well, never mind. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
