Thanks Mothernerd for running the challenge this month. I've found it difficult to post the last week or so as my husband has been away on a course which has coincided with school trips hospital appointments, lots of ebaying. But I have been keeping a running total and overall it's been a good month, considering the £350 tax installment and the brakes on one of the cars needing to be replaced. The main fail was SFD's, but that was just bad organisation on my part....
I did complete the exercise and 5 a day every day, donation to the food bank, failed on the petrol by £25, as the course was in Worcester( will be able to claim it back and would have been well within budget otherwise), £5 over on food, on target for school trips and birthdays :j
Am definitely going to keep going with this challenge, hope to post much more regularly now. One more installment of tax to pay on 21st March and then back to paying off credit cards :eek:0 -
Evening all,
Hope jell gets better quickly lilt and that you get some sleep
Final check in from me. Sorry for my absence yesterday, went on a naughty night out on the town, however we managed to convince people to give us lifts both ways so came in well under budgetI haven't reached my SFD target but I feel that I have taken every opportunity to get them so I am happy with myself. This month is going to be tight (as usual) as I have a birthday, Mother's Day, a charity night out and I had my hair done today. Oh dear, I do still spend too much money!
I have really enjoyed the 15 minutes of a certain activity. I have been tidying and although I didn't do it everyday, I like acknowledging that I do try and improve the house :rotfl:
Obviously, my fruit and veg intake is very low! I knew this before and it is an area I really need to improve. Having said that, I have had none today!

A mixed month for me but on the whole a good month.
Exceeded my SFD target with 16. Just crept in under budget for groceries by a little over £1. The pets were very good and still have nearly £5 of their budget left. Birthdays/Social was over budget by around £10 so not too bad but need to budget better. I have a little over £30 to transfer to my Christmas 2015 savings account. In addition to this I have added another few £'s to my love2shop card from a cashback site.
All in all not too bad but room for improvement.
Thank you for running the thread Mothernerd. It was inspiring as all of your posts are.
See you all on the March thread

Hi all,
Another turtle who hasn't posted on here for a while, although I have been following all your news with interest, honest! And I have been busy while not posting, have managed to secure a place on a primary teacher training course from September (yay!), which is a bit of a career change from my current NHS job!!
Sadly I didn't get a salaried place though(boo!), so have been knee deep in student loan applications, financial research and savings plans - mortgage free ambitions on the back burner while I try and build a little nest egg to soften the blow of losing my income from the family pot for a whole year.
I've also had two children with lurgy one after the other - why do they NEVER get it out of the way at the same time?! - my maths and English skills tests to study for and sit, and ramped-up work demands for my current job.
Nowhere near the required SFD's but monitoring both that and my budgets went out the window, but while I'm sure I was probably over on most if not all of them, don't think the damage was too bad...
So can I get off the naughty step and rejoin you all for March? This thread was great Mothernerd, so sorry to have missed it.
I'll copy and paste this ramble onto March thread so sorry to those who get to see it twice, but not sure how active this one will be now.
Sorry to all those having a rough time for whatever reasons, hope spring is kinder to you all xx#21 Save £12k in 2025 £16977.35/£20000
August NSD Challenge 3/100 -
Hey everyone, hope you're all well and ready for March!
Last update from me before I jump to the other thread, many thanks to mothernerd for a great month of fun and interesting challenges and thanks to all the turtles who offered advice and support as I got used to being single again and bought a bike!
I am over on my budgets but know where and how it's happened - didn't get the new tyres or battery for the car, but did buy a bike and all the gear instead. The petrol tank is almost full and not budgeting for any petrol next month. Over on food but includes allotment and house stuff that didn't have a budget. Just under on social stuff despite several meals out, a friend to visit this weekend, and a date, so happy with that.
Did slightly better on physio, really well on meditation, and ate my five a day almost every day - have lost weight this month and will have to keep an eye if any more drops off from cycling as I don't want to loose any more.
NSDs came in at 14 although I was aiming for 18 - will try to be more savvy next month and plan spends for the same day.
Thanks a million turtles, and see you on the other side! xxNST September: SFD 17/20, food £62.87/£60, travel £61.55/£40, Outings £39.80/£100, Allotment £7.17/£30 Other: £42.32, Meditation ?/30.
