Apologies Turtles but I have been AWOL for much of the Feb challenge. My laptop adaptor was broken and I could not log on for around a week. All in all it has been a difficult month emotionally. I have my appeal hearing on Monday and have been really down and anxious.

My spending has been appalling and whilst I feel happy to log 17 SFD I think I must have crammed enough spending in on the remaining 11 days to go over my food budget by £42. I need to get back to my meal planning and recording of spending and aim to keep to my budget in March.

I have not been able to keep up with all the posts so feel a little out of the loop but looking forward to you all helping me to keep on track in March.

On a positive I have made some money on ebay :)

Traveller -so funny about how your teen responded to the emotional situation! But very similar what happened to your son and probably more hurtful due to the fact someone he trusted said those things to him. All I can say is I would suspect she hasn't been brought up particularly sensitivity if clothing is important at that age!

    Thank you Mothernerd & Apple.

Thrifty -see that is a perfect example of what I find grim about encouraging little kids to behave like adults. Date nights? All wrong. I suspect I'm going to end up being quite old school with my son. I'd rather be a boring fuddy duddy than allow what I see as inappropriate behaviour. We had s (ed ) I'm writing it that way in case it's seen as a rude word on here, from age 7 so knew the facts of life around then. My mum then had a 3rd pregnancy when I was 9 so I also made her go over the whole thing again to be certain. Much to her embarrassment. I do believe something needs doing in this country to deal with the rising level of teen pregnancies but perhaps If more parents would just let kids be kids until they were at least 13 it would be a better world. Rant over!

  • Hello Turtles,

I can't believe it is the end of the month already! Payday for me yesterday, will check in with my totals on the new thread.

I'm kind of pleased with my totals this month - 13/15 SFDs is quite good for me (as I often need to pay for parking for work as no alternative, so have a small spend), but groceries need to be less. Altogether, I think we can mark feb 'could do better'!

Bobarella - so sorry to hear about your son, it must be absolutely heartbreaking as a parent to see your little one feeling hurt. I don't have any good advice I'm afraid - everything other more knowledgeable turtles have said sounds great, I suppose the thing is for him to feel special in him self, no matter what other people do or say, but that is easier said than done, I still haven't got it worked out as an adult so if anyone has the secret do let me know! I totally agree that 5/6 year olds on 'date nights' sound horrifying - that's my oldest godson's age, and I really hope he isn't feeling pressured in that way. You're right about S Ed too- but I really support the recent campaign for 's and relationship education' through out school - not just the facts to help prevent pregnancy etc, but also helping children and young people understand what an equal, respectful relationship is. I got involved in an abusive relationship in my late teens, and I really think this sort of information would have helped me.

Lilt - that is an epic lentil purchase, let us know any good recipes you come across. Btw, I made shyspender's :Asoup this week - it was fab.

CEW - excellent news on completion date.:j

Loveadove - good news you get a bit longer for house hunting, hope job application goes well.

Thrifty - Interesting about the butcher, I know ours is definitely more expensive than aldee.

Have a lovely Saturday all. My brother is here, singing away to himself in the shower, which is very nice - used to drive me mad when we were teenagers at home but now it's lovely to have him here, singing and all.

    Good Afternoon.

Spendy day today but have managed to reach the required 15 (just) as slept all day Thursday and Friday.
    :o

Today was allowed as we bought a birthday card for my nephew (bought his present earlier on), a birthday card and gift for OH's mum and two mother's day cards.
Best to buy them whilst I remember and am in the card aisle.
    ;)

Been working the past three nights so haven't really done much. Figured out my plan for March... and spent some lovely time with OH.
Currently thinking about having a nap but need to go see my nephew and have some cake.
    :D

Speaking of cake... diet starts tomorrow. Boo hiss.
I have come to accept that I need to lose weight. For my health as well as looking pretty in a dress.
    :o

Pots have been filled for March:
    * Holiday pot - grand total of £200 (which is away to get changed into euros).
    * Xmas pot - £236 in total. Hooray.
    :j

Hugs to everyone, especially Bobarella's special little guy.

  • Good evening everyone!

Sorry I haven't had chance to catch up properly. Got back from interview late last night and been straight back to work today. Hope you are all doing ok!

I have gone slightly over both spending and fuel budgets this month, but the place I went for interview are unexpectedly contributing towards my expenses so it should balance out after all.

Looking forward to the March challenge. Thanks for leading us through February Mothernerd.
