Reclaim Sentinel Card Protection article discussion

  • Wrote to HBOS some weeks ago asking for a refund, as the AI Scheme looked to be going to take ages. HBOS denied any liability. AI Scheme form came recently so I completed and returned it.

Today I received a settlement from AI Scheme of £63.46!

I realized last week that in the previous decade we had a Royalties Gold account with RBS, so I have also written to RBS asking about that too.

  • I have received a cheque today from AI Scheme for £32.83, for payments made after 14 January 2005. Trawling through old paperwork I have found a renewal notice from Barclaycard, dated 8 August 2004, for a card protection policy, which it appears that I accepted. I have also found a letter confirming a free one month's trial of this policy dated 9 July 2001. I don't have any paperwork in between, but it looks as though I had this policy for some time. My Barclaycard statements for the period have unfortunately been shredded.
Please can anyone advise whether it would be worth my while contacting Barclaycard to see if I can reclaim the premiums paid prior to 14 January 2005?
    Thanks in advance.

I am sure I also had cover with Barclays, prior to 2005 but have no documentation. I have today received a cheque fro AI for £64.22 for products after 2005 but it does not say which companies it covers. It does advise if you had more than one product then it covers all those cards. I know I had cover from my bank also but there again I have no idea what my refund is for. Thank you

I have received my sentinel compensation cheque today must say it was very quick. Cheque was for £187 nearly didn't send of the form. Glad I did.
  • I looked in the Barclays website, it is saying you had to claim by August 2014 but not sure if this AI superseded this. Makes me think you should never throw anything away..

Got a cheque for £281.78 today, rather more than I expected, and much sooner.

  • It was all a painless process. Five minutes to fill in the form, two weeks later a cheque for £93. Spent on a great meal out with my wife.

Hi is there an alternative policy to Sentinel whereby you can make one call to cancel all cards if lost/stolen? I can't find one on line.

    Thx
