Hi Amy can you help? A1 advised that I have had Sentinel since 1998, and that it was through Lloyds. I have never been a Lloyds customer. Can you tell me an address for Lloyds bank so that I can claim pre 2005? Thanks0

hello , I posted before about my Sentinel card protection which I have had since 1993 , I have contacted Barcalycard (who were the issuers) and made a complaint and a request for a refund for the period 1993 up until 2005 which has been lodged, they have said they will reach a decision within 56 days . The number on which to contact Barclaycard is 08000966580 ....good luck0

Hi All,
I received my compensation cheque but noticed that tax, at 20%, had been deducted. Since when has tax been applied to compensation. AI Scheme appear to have treated this as a distribution of profits (i.e. a dividend). This can't be right, surely?
Also, has anyone been successful in making a claim for pre-2005 policies?0 -
Got my cheque from AI today, £95.15. I am tempted to call them to check who was with (i suspect it would be my lloyds credit card) to see if it pre-dates 2005 but not sure if its worth the effort or wether it will come to anything.MFW#105 - 2015 Overpaid £8095 / 2016 Overpaid £6983.24 / 2017 Overpaid £3583.12 / 2018 Overpaid £2583.12 / 2019 Overpaid £2583.12 / 2020 Overpaid £2583.12/ 2021 overpaid £1506.82 /2022 Overpaid £2975.28 / 2023 Overpaid £2677.30 / 2024 Overpaid £2173.61 Total OP since mortgage started in 2015 = £37,286.86 2025 MFW target £1700, payments to date at April 2025 - £1712.07..0

Its not compensation it is charged on but the interest that they have added at 8%, this is standard as loss of interest earning potential had you had the money itself and runs in line with FOS rulings etc. same on PPI interest payments, paid at 8% but tax deducted on that interest.MFW#105 - 2015 Overpaid £8095 / 2016 Overpaid £6983.24 / 2017 Overpaid £3583.12 / 2018 Overpaid £2583.12 / 2019 Overpaid £2583.12 / 2020 Overpaid £2583.12/ 2021 overpaid £1506.82 /2022 Overpaid £2975.28 / 2023 Overpaid £2677.30 / 2024 Overpaid £2173.61 Total OP since mortgage started in 2015 = £37,286.86 2025 MFW target £1700, payments to date at April 2025 - £1712.07..0 -

Hi,
I have today received £417 in compensation from 2005. I did actually buy Sentinel from 1994 when my handbag was stolen as I thought it would be worth the money to save the hassle. However, I am just pleased to have received this amount as I did choose to buy the Sentinel cover, even if in later years it was not worth the money. I am very grateful to MSE and the template used to send my form off. Thank you MSE especially as you also helped me recover £640 from Thomas Cook for flight delays. You are doing a great job!0 -

Hi
I notice you said you took Sentinel out in 1994...wws your rebate just from 2005? If so, was there any mention of reclaiming monies from the period 1994-2005?0 -

Are you sure you actually bought the cover from each card provider? As it will only cover for the actual products you bought (not for example if you provided them with other card details for their bulk cancellation service if you only bought it via one bank).
If you call the help number on the letter, they can tell you exactly who you took the cover out with and the dates, they were really helpful when i called yesterday.
Also the cover was not necessarily £20 a year as different costs/schemes/offers within the service.
For instance i rang yesterday to check who mine was taken out with (as suspected it was Lloyds only, and I didn't buy it from any of my other card providers as well). It turns out I had the cover for longer than i thought (since June 2001 until mid 2007). The AI reclaim scheme is only back to 2005 so they covered 2005 to 2007, but they had the info needed to make a claim via lloyds for the earlier years (which i decided to do in the end and posted my letter to Lloyds yesterday).
They were able to confirm the premiums paid (including the dates prior to 2005) and the cost of my cover gradually increased from £12 for my first year (2001), then to £16 (2002) and then to £20 (2005 onwards).
You need to check 1. which card/bank (s) you bought the scheme through 2. what dates you had the cover for 3. how much you paid each year to check you had the right amount.
For example the £32.50 sounds like it was for one years cover (£20 + interest since around 2005 as a guess as thats the same as my brother got yesterday for that timeframe). If the cover was taken out before 2005 you may wish to consider using Martin's template letter and writing to the bank who sold you the cover.MFW#105 - 2015 Overpaid £8095 / 2016 Overpaid £6983.24 / 2017 Overpaid £3583.12 / 2018 Overpaid £2583.12 / 2019 Overpaid £2583.12 / 2020 Overpaid £2583.12/ 2021 overpaid £1506.82 /2022 Overpaid £2975.28 / 2023 Overpaid £2677.30 / 2024 Overpaid £2173.61 Total OP since mortgage started in 2015 = £37,286.86 2025 MFW target £1700, payments to date at April 2025 - £1712.07..0
