  • Mine still hasnt arrived, rang up again yesterday evening this time I was told card would be with me by 2 August.I had rang about 8 times during the day and was put on hold then cut off.Not to be put off I went to their on line site and requested they ring me and selected "now" from the time slot...guess what despite doing that twenty times still no phonecall.Wouldnt you have thought they would have put a statement on their website to explain the delay.I notice there was no delay in posting their new terms and conditions!
What I want to know is if my card gets into the wrong hands, and is used frauduently are they going to reimburse me?

They will blame everyone else but themselves, allow you to go over your o/d limit if you have one, charge you for the priviledge, ignore your communications, lie about the money going from your account, then when it is rectified (took us about 4 months from start to finish) just expect you to carry on banking with them as before - and get shirty with you when you tell them you are closing all your accounts with them! Don't expect an apology or compensation - which is what I'm waiting for now. Not holding my breath for that.
    Sorry - rant over! :rotfl:
Change your bank account as soon as you can would be my advice - I'm in the process now, and A&L seem very good so far.
    :j Almost 2 stones gone! :j

I'm thinking of charging them £30 for every time I would like to use my card.

Taken from Nielsen's daily financial news:
Abbey debit cardholders whose existing cards expire at the end of July could face delays to the arrival of their new cards after the manufacturer, based in Tewkesbury, had to cease production due to the floods. A spokesman at the bank suggested that customers should take out extra cash 'just in case', after admitting that hundreds of customers could be affected.

The news was only released yesterday - presumably they were hoping to resolve the situation in time... not good.

Me too! Just wasted 25mins on phone to complaints - funnily enough they didn't answer.
As to the floods excuse - these cards are usually issued well in advance (Factor25 suggests 3 weeks in advance) so when exactly did Tewksbury get flooded?

I don't think it's anything to do with the floods. I was told by CS that they were posted on the 20th, rather than the 14th and presumably they had all been manufactured well before then!! I am not impressed!

Maybe it's a combination of floods and Royal Mail then! They've been just as bad recently...
