" so yes I stand by any comment which advises some discretion. Gay displays of kissing is going to make people feel uncomfortable, that it is a fact. It may also end up in you getting stabbed in a random homophobic attack. And anything in between. There MAY also be a case for the security guard protecting the person from such acts of violence, especially if the truth has been bent a bit by the victim here (don't fully believe the news reports!). There could have been some EDL nutjob waiting for his cheeseburger whilst stroking his gouging knife within earshot, to which the security guard has correctly intervened to protect the guy. Or he could have just been a bit homophobic, and anything in between! People have to be so careful what they say and do in the workplace. The security operative surely would have known his actions would lead to disciplinary action of some kind for this.

No he was too thick . He , and it appears others on here, think it was tantamount to preventing a breach of the peace...
This is a great example of hilariously bad vigilante action at its best

I think in the story afterwards the guy was crying outside. I can't help but feel that doesn't help the stereotype associated with gay men. Especially as he was also a dancer.

I know a few gay men and none of them would really care about things like this. Some people are just very sensitive

Maybe there is a good argument for having Gay Burger Bars as well as Gay villages?

Probably a better suggestion would be for separate burger bars for the bigoted and narrow-minded as the majority are quite happy to eat their fast food alongside people of any sexual orientation.

There won't be any. Homosexuality is well documented in nature ;).

Although to be fair though most species probable identify as bi, as they don't commit to a single sex for life and just have the occasional same sex fling.

There are exceptions though, notably domesticated sheep, some rams will refuse to mate with female sheep completely and only "do it" with males for their entire lives.

That just plays into the stereotypes about rams. Particularly dancing ones...

But homosexuals in my home city of Manchester are apparently not happy to drink with and/or socialise with others hence their contrivance of a gay village.

I dont frequent burger bars but in any dining situation, i would have no idea if there was a homosexual in my immediate vicinity unless he/she made a point of highlighting it,though why they would, i could'nt possibly know.
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..

Just read about this in my local paper online. Said security guard has been banned for life from working in any branch of McDonalds.

Not true. When I've been to manchester (with natives) we have been to places, both gay and straight. Lots of gay people frequent the non-gay bars and clubs.

However, due to incidents such as those in the OP, many (myself included) don't feel safe being openly gay in a predominantly straight environment. I find most of the gay village quite trashy, but at least I feel safe.

That's not to say it's all about making out with guys in public -- personally, I find it a bit vulgar to do that, be it gay or straight people. It's more that if you're hoping to meet someone in a bar and strike up a romance, it's quite difficult when you have no idea who is gay and who isn't.

If you go into a regular pub, and you're a straight man, it's safe to assume that women are straight, too. You can approach them, and they can say no, or even "No thanks, I'm a lesbian."

If you're gay, you've got the odds stacked that any guy who catches your eye will be straight, and some get violent if you imply that they might be gay.

If you're in the gay village, you know who is likely gay, and even if it's a straight guy with his gay friends, they're not going to punch you.

Hetrosexual behaviour-natural. Homosexual behaviour-unnatural, the guard was quite correct.

Says the person sitting in a presumably heated, man-made structure, using unnatural technology to communicate over great distances using scientifically produced electricity that does not exist in a natural way.

You may even be wearing unnatural fibres and have used modern medicine to save your life, or improve it to some degree. Yet the only unnatural thing you take exception to is something that has been well documented in nature. :T You're a clever one.
