I expect I'd buy them on the high street in the end, I've got my favourite shoe shops that I'll take any excuse to visit. I do already have a pair of black Mary Janes but the are too beaten and battered for a weddingSealed Pot Challenge # 421

The actual foot size was ok, i just found the straps a bit tight, tight enough to leave marks on my foot.
Still love them though and wear them with my vintage style dresses.0 -

Oh okay, I'm a glutton for punishment with shoes so I'm used to most things.
I like the fact those are different from the rest without being OTTSealed Pot Challenge # 421

Personally i quite like the original dress, its something i would wear (if i was slimmer!), but then i've not been to a wedding in 15 years so i wouldn't know what the rules are. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Sorry OP, I think the dress looks like what it is, £5 from the charity shop. Treat yourself to one of the Lindy Bop ones, the day might not be about you but you want to feel special too?0

When you can see the dress in real life it certainly doesn't look or feel cheap. It's from House of Fraser originallySealed Pot Challenge # 421

Can I just clarify that the original dress that I put up was chosen because it had the same pattern as my dress, not because it was my dress.
I was only concerned about the colour of the dress, not the style. Now I'm having doubts about it all.

You definitely want a little jacket or posh cardigan type thing as well as your coat. It will smarten up the dress and you won;t have to keep choosing between looking a bit odd with your coat on all the time or feeling a bit over exposed in just spaghetti straps for the more formal bits. Black is fine, you could put a chunky brooch or a flower clip on it if you want to make it less 'plain'
If i wear something sleeveless to a wedding or other nice event, I always have a little cropped cardigan or similar that stays on through the day bits and comes off for the dancing at night!
There's no way you're going to feel overdressed, so take steps to ensure you don't risk feeling underdressed and you've covered all your bases and will feel ok whatever the other guests all turn up in.0 -
Only wear red to a wedding if you've slept with the groom, or want people to think that you've slept with the groom. :-)0
